Sean Connery "Best Bond"

The only real reason (in my humble opinion)
that Sean Connery is "The Best Bond" is he was the first one.
However, as a Scot He is a disgrace,
He'll Tell the rest of us about Voting for the SNP (yeah right!!)
and the rest of the Guff that goes with it but ....

Sean Connery was the best Bond - and the sexiest man ever! Not so keen on the other BonRAB, though it's probably because I really like 1960s culture and fashion so Sean's Bond films are perfect for me.
 
Totally agree - no way Connery could have done that scene - although it would have been utterly brilliant if he did. Added a whole new dimension to BonRAB character, which I believe is going to be Daniel Craigs strengths. Playing the robotic hitman and the human being Bond in the same film.

I doubt Brosnan could have done it either, but I guess we'll never know.
 
Sorry,Nick,Fleming wrote the Bond books with NIVEN,not Moore in mind...

Niven was a friend,and attempts to make a film started as early as 1955,before Moore was a star with Ivanhoe..

He also wanted Trevor Howard or Burton to play the role.

That stupid accent, the average acting and he gets on my nerves with all his political posturing nowadays. Oh yeah, he loves Scotland so much, that's why he doesn't live there anymore. He only turns up on his private jet for an election.

We used to laugh at Pierce Brosnan, though, because he just acts like a prat.

I'm not keen on Sean Connery, but I do agree with him being the best Bond. Well, not even that really, just that I prefer the BonRAB made in the 1960's, so whoever was in it would probably be my first choice. I actually prefer Roger Moore as an actor and as a person, and Pierce Brosnan took it to another level. Looking forward to Daniel Craig, have seen him in other films and liked him a lot.
 
Ian Fleming did not write the Bond books with Roger Moore in mind; in 1952, when he wrote the first one (it was published in '53), it's doubtful he'd even heard of Moore. However, when he was asked for his suggestions for possible BonRAB by Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman when they were producing Dr. No, Roger Moore was on Fleming's shortlist, along with David Niven. It is a matter of record, though, that Fleming's first choice was a little-known actor called Edward Underdown (who actually has a small role in Thunderball).

It's also a matter of record that after Fleming first met Connery, his reaction was: "That was a thousand miles away from my idea of James Bond. Everything is wrong; the face, the accent and the hair."
 
It's easy to look on the original actor as being the best, because all the actors that followed would have to put up with the comparisons.
