SD card unreadable

Hello, I have searched for this specific topic and found no one else with this specific problem. I have a pqi 4gb microsdhc card and when I put it in my G1, it says SD card unreadable. I have put it in the G1, connected it to my notebook and formatted it, over and over but I still keep getting the unreadable error. I have gone to pqi's web site, but no help there. Any help at would would be great. Thank you.

Try going into your phones settings > SD card and phone storage > make sure the use for USB storage box is checked, also you may want to try to click the option unmount/eject sd card then relaod the card. Also make sure that when you are transferring the files from your location to the phone via the usb cable , you FIRST disconnect the usb cable to allow the phone to read the data you transferred.

Hello, I should have mentioned that I have the RC28 update. So there is no use for usb storage check box. I have tried other memory cards and they work fine. This one was working fine when I 1st got the G1. If i connect the memory card through usb via G1, it says the card needs to be formatted. So I press format. It runs, says it has been formatted and all seems fine. Then I disconnect the G1 from the notebook and it says"SD card unreadable". So, i used a MicroSD card reader, put it into my notebook with the card inside and it says card needs to be formatted. I hit format and it says Windows failed to format card. I went to pqi's web site and cannot find any support for this type of problem. Thank you.

I am having the same problem. I have the stock 1gb which is not recognized by the phone. I have the latest update so the only options under "SD card & phone storage" is:

Total space
unavailable
Available Space
unavailable
Unmount/eject SD card

All are unclickable. When I mount the card to my MacBook Pro (Leopard 10.5.5) a dialog window comes up reading "The disk you inserted was not readable by this cimputer". Options are to initialize (taking me to disk utility), ignore, or eject.

I have no idea what to do and am totally lost. If anyone can help out I swear I will help deliver your first born and/or be forever in your debt.

Cheers All,
-Vinnie

hey i have almost the same problem the only difference is that in my phone it appears like the sd card its in it tells me:

Total Space
7,572 MB

Available Space
6,348 MB

but my music doesnt come out neither my pictures or ringtones and this happened all of a sudden anybody can help me pls ill appreciate it. thanks

I would try a couple things. See if you can get your hands on a SD card reader and hook it up to your computer. If your computer can read the card, then it might be a problem with the phone.

If you can't get to another card reader, see if your computer can read the card when the phone is connected to it. Once again, if your computer can get to your data, then it might be a phone problem.

I took my phone to a t-mobile store and put the mini sd card in another phone and the phone would not read it. I then put the mini sd card from that phone in my G1 and everything was fine. Called up t-mobile that day and they sent me a new mini sd card. Got it and everything is working as it should.

Good luck mate.

i had something similar to this recently. i have an 8gig sandisk card and i haven't had any problems for about a month till two days ago.

i woke up to the default ringtone from the phone. i had the ringtone set to one on my sd card. i went into my music folder and it said SD card unreadable or something along those lines so i took the card out and put it back in. worked fine for about 2 hours then the same thing happened. took the card out and put it back in again and it hasn't happened since, if it happens again i'll be calling tmo for a replacement phone =)

My buddy has the exact same issue however it was with the stock 1GB. I put my 4GB into his phone and it worked perfectly. Since he did not have much stored on the card, he just formatted it and it worked without any issues.

Mykel. I have the same problem,no help or support for android, looks like a p.c.I think there is a sd card recovery for p.c .I am investing if you find out anything let me know and vice versa.

I had the same issue. I ended up just re-inserting the card a few times, and then it worked. That may not help too much, but who knows... maybe that is all you need to do.

I had the same problem, could not format the card at all.... I had an 8gb, class 2 sandisk card that i have bought from Amazon, but pass the 30 days return policy for like 2 days.. I then called Sandisk direct and they exchanged my card for a new one. They gave me a return number and had to ship my card first and like 2 days after they received my card then sent me an 8gb class 4 card. They said that their card have a 5 year warranty from date of purchase. They just need the purchase date and where did you purchase the card. This is just an idea if you have a Sandisk brand card...

I had the same problem with my 2GB Sandisk MicroSD (non SDHC) card. One day about 2 weeks after I bought the phone, about half the images on the card were all corrupted, and my ringtones would randomly go back to default. Then after maybe another week, the card died completely. It won't work in my phone or my computer, regardless of the type of reader I try and use. I bought a 4GB SDHC since then, and it's worked without problems (so far). At first I thought it was just a bad card, but there seems to be quite a few people with the same problem.... perhaps it was a problem with the phone after all, that's since been fixed with an update?

Hi, i have had my 1 for about a month now and have been connecting to my PC via the USB cable supplied and so far his has worked perfectly fine. Howver i have just bought a micro SD card reader fr it and since useing this to connect to my PC the SD card has read unreadable when inserted into the G1. Any help would be great

Lets find a damn solution!!! I have the same problem as everyone and Ive done it all, re-format (FAT 32), run error check, EVERYTHING. Once a "corrupt" file gets on your card, it stops working right.

My problem continues to be pictures stop showing up, and when I try to download a picture, it says Unable to finish, not enough space. HELL YES I have enough space!!! Its a 4 GB card! This is booty already! Ive NEVER had a problem with SD cards on any phone Ive ever owned but this one!

I have a theory, could it be an app I have creating or weird folders on the card?? We deserve answers man...I like this phone but this is getting f**kin annoying already!

Happens with everything on the card, mainly with the pictures. The file is still there but it wont show. When you plug it in to the computer and mount it, the file is there but it wont open.

Remember bro, most of the people seeking help here dont have a clue what putting them to the root of the sd means...including me.

Have you tried a different SD card? If other SD cards work, and reformatting the card etc, does not work, the card may simply be bad. If that is the case, I don't think there is a solution except get a new SD. Sadly, faulty products happen.

THIS IS MY PROBLEM NOW =[ is there any help?
My SD is in my phone but it says
Total Space:
UNAVAILABLE
