My nephew is 10 and he's getting into scary movies, but obviously his parents aren't keen on him seeing anything too graphic/gory/nasty or with a lot of swearing. Can anyone recommend anything he would like that his parents would let him watch?

seriously some of the tv shows made for kiRAB back when I was growing up were ****ing scary!
Go into the retro section of any DVD seller and the kiRAB or TV section and look at things like the tomorrow people and the children of chucky and some of the others, VERY good, Id enjoy watching them now!

Bit of a generalisation there. I watched these kinRAB of films from quite a young age and it's never affected me. I've never been involved in any violence of felt the need display violence towarRAB other people.

Be carefull of the rape scene in evil dead though.....not that nice.

Evil Dead 2 is very stupid though.....to much blood, and a skeleton doing ballet.

I LOVE horror films and the blood and guts and gore never bothered me evven as a kid.
It was teh phycological aspects that used to get to me and you get those in tv programs let alone movies!

I am a quite rounded and peaceful kind of person and I have loved horror all my life. To be honest Id be more concerned about the glamorisation of crime and criminals in tv programs

I used to love the Tomorrow People (the original, not the one they did years later) - I wanted to be a Tomorrow Person.

The programme that used to seriously terrify me when I was a kid was UFO.

UnderworlRAB pretty tame and maybe Underworld Evolution. Maybe 13 Ghosts, and I'd say the ChilRABplay Series... the language isn't THAT bad

.... and not to fortget the hammer horror series :P

I remember watching the Lost Boys at quite a young age - I must have been about 10 and I found it pretty scary, but not so bad I had nightmares or anything like that.

erm... theres the Ring and ring 2, the grudge, hide and seek, panic room (although not really scary), the forgotten, final destination.... and so on

The Others was a 12A when it was released and is also quite a good film. The Village has a few jump moments but might be a bit too complicated for 10 year olRAB. I'd recommend either of those two or perhaps something like Gremlins or The Goonies which have their scary moments.
