Scariest Moments in animation

I was going a bit off-topic to answer your question. I didn't list them because they were scary but because they all had something to do with mutation.

The end of Who Framed Rodger Rabbit was kind of freaky to me, I don't know is anyone else got a creepy vibe from it but I sure did, I think a big part of it is that I was young when it was released and things got to me back then. I remember a few different episodes of The Real Ghostbusters that I found scary, especially ones revolving around the boogeyman and one or two that had to do with ghosts that were in shadow form (shadows freak me out sometimes).

There is a scene in Garfield's Halloween Adventure that used to scare me as a kid, it's when Garfield and Odie sneak into a house and they run into an old man who was sitting in a chair in front of a fireplace, the way the old man looked at the duo frightened me a wee bit.

There was an anime I recently watched at Otakon called Corpse Princess that had some seriously scary atmosphere. It almost gave me a Penumbra (it's a game) feeling.

The very first Care Bears animated special back in the 80's freaked me out when Professor Coldheart was mutating children into cold hearted creatures. They certainly could get away with a LOT more in *cute* cartoons back then.

Count me in as one of those who got freaked out by the climax in Who Framed Roger Rabbit as a kid. That voice is still creepy, though.

I found decaying Grandpa Phil in Hey Arnold! downright scary. The last time I saw that episode, I had to turn away before his jaw fell off. And that laugh! Talk about warped...

I know this isn't a kid's show in the slightest, but the events in the last episode of the Alien Nine OVA freaked me out. The visuals were even more graphic than they usually were. Though, that show was more messed up than actually scary.

^ Oh yes, Grandma Phil decaying definitely scared the crap out of me.

Ever watch that episode of Dexter's Lab where he and Deedee are monsters?

THAT was scarey.

As the Nostalgia Critic would say "You know, for kids!"

Scariest moments for me:

Definitely, as someone already mentioned, the donkey scene in Pinocchio. Although the scene with the Coachman and his goons rounding the donkeys into crates is more disturbing than it is scary.

The Hell sequence in All Dogs go to Heaven is pretty scary.

The Pleasure Island scenes in Disney's Pinocchio are the textbook definition of "nightmare fuel". Mainly the part where the children/donkeys are begging their captor to let them go home to their mommies. Swear to God, I STILL have trouble sitting through that movie because of that particular scene!
The worst part about that sequence is that those kids are never rescued. Pinocchio gets out of Pleasure Island, finds Gepetto, has his happy ending, and never thinks of them again! That is why I hated that damn puppet when I was a kid.

"Remember me, Eddie?!

When I killed your brother...

I talked...

JUST.

LIKE.

THIS!"

Definitely right up there with the Large Marge scene from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure as the scariest movie moment of my childhood.

Not too many things in animation(at least to me) were or are scary, however I do have a few that would qualify: certain parts of the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo, like certain villains of that series were pretty frightening, and I have to admit the scene from the first episode with the townspeople and Daphne turning into werewolves was pretty firghtening.

Certain parts of the movie Scooby Doo on Zombie Island were pretty scary too, or I guess would be scary to some people.

Thats amazing, as i just watched that movie last night. I didn't really find it too scary though. It was more funny than anything. Especially the last part, where he eyes turned into daggers.

IMO though christopher lloyd was a perfect choice for main villian. Judge Doom is THE most bad ass cartoon/human hybrid i ever seen, and is i would say a more bad ass than Darth Vader.

On Batman:TAS, the episode "Bane" when Batman screws up Bane's steroid pump and it looks like he's gonna explode out of his skin.
