Scariest Film of all time

There are some other thrillers which have stand out horror scenes in them: the murder in Torn Curtain, the stabbing with scissors in Dial M for Murder etc.
I'm sure other RAB regulars will know lots more. :)

I remember seeing a weird film with rose mcgowan, she had black hair and her and a friend pick up a guy who is Sh*gging rose mcgowan and peoples heaRAB explode and at the end some people catch them and cut off the boys C*ck i think. anyone have a clue what im on about?

With the discussion of Candyman, has anyone else seen Bernard Rose's debut Paperhouse? Very very creepy indeed, some really haunting images, one huge disturbing shock and all British too. Hurrah.

If you can't find The Haunting anywhere, try The Legend of Hell House. I saw that at the cinema when it was new and it still holRAB up pretty well today.
Better still, read the original novels of either film: The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson and Hell House by Richard Matheson. :)

Thats the film Im on about. Where the ghosts follow them camping and the neighbours think they are in the house arguing. That is the creepiest movies I have ever saw.
Do you like poltergeist?

Yes they were good. I remember one about a wife who murdered her husband with a frozen leg of lamb over his head. The police are looking for a club shaped object but at the end the wife invites them for dinner and they are eating the evidence.

Also one where a Black Mamba settles on a sleeping mans stomach. He has to saty still for so long that it eventually dissapears of its own accord. When he goes to the cupboard to get a glass for a rather deserved strong shery the Mamba strikes out and bites him. I love tales with a twist.

Hi Beth

you love your horrors don't you? :D I've seen some of the films you listed, afraid I was a bit disappointed by the Hellraiser movies, but great idea must admit. I really like stuff that is a bit ordinary if you know what I mean, stuff where you don't get to see much, it just kind of builRAB. The exception is of course the great John Carpenter and the chap that made Evil Dead (can't remember his name dammit!) I like Mouth of Madness - especially the weird dude on the bike  that really is sooo very creepy and goosepimply :D I wish more directors and such would go for the creeps more :( You don't have to see everything. I know Carpenter writes some music himself, but the music by Morricone(?) for the Thing is just superb!

The Haunted is definately one of the best and scariest I've ever seen  it really is VERY very good!

I liked the first Poltergeist movie first couple of times, but I've watched it so many times it no longer has impact :(
There are always those stalwarts that you can't resist tho' like the omen movies and Amytiville etc. :D two big faves of mine are The Devil Rides Out and The Wicker Man, Devil Rides Out doesn't scare me, but I just love the idea of a film about people getting into stuff they shouldn't and getting chased by Crowleyesque baddies :D more more more!!!

Have you seen The Changeling?

I love the film with Peter Cushing as an antique shop owner, where he sells folk stuff and if they rip him off the curse on the object gets them. I can't remember what it's called  it doesn't scare me but I do love it :D

Well it'll make a great scary movie that we can all relate to, that's for sure. I'd have Simon Pegg play you.

Personally, a drawn out and painful death due to disease/illness, alzheimers/dementia, I guess those are things I fear, I agree, I wouldn't like the things you describe, but fortunately don't think about them as a possibility.

On a bigger picture... The New World Order, the Bilderbergers, Illuminati, George W Bush....

seems like a new thread, elsewhere is required, don't you think?

The Ring (Japan) God that scared me witless at the end.
Luckily i saw it before all the hype and so wasn't expecting much, I think that made a big difference.

American werewolf in london did quite a good job in the 80's though. I thought I was going to see a comedy! ( That's how it was marketed). But for it's time it was a very frightening movie, especially when i had to walk home through a fog filled park!

seen loaRABa scary movies, but i never really get scared. grudge n ring did nothin for me. scariest movie concept has to be freddie Kruger though. he was in my dreams for weeks n i was convinced i'd wake up dead (makes no sense i no, but that was always my first thought when i woke up.) i'm a bit wierd though. I'ma 19 year old girl and i know i must be afraid of something, but I cant actually think of anything. When i was little an enid blyton book scared me, but since then nada.
