So my opinions are not valid just because he had some good reviews? I personally have never seen anything good from Russell Crowe. We all are going to have different tastes in everything.
I feel the same way about Christian Bale, I seriously think he can not act. The only reason he gets hired is because of his looks.
Gary Oldman is an entirely different kind of animal, and for me is just about the finest British actor around, everything he does is brilliant.
But now I will likely get panned by somebody who disagrees with MY OPINION! Instead of them just stating its my opinion and they dont see it that way, they would rather try to rubbish my opinion. And it is these kind of people that obviously dont understand what a forum is all about, this is a place to voice opinions, and just because other people's opinions differ from there's they try to turn it into something else.
I only came onto this thread to voice my opinions on Russell Crowe being the wrong choice for Robin Hood, because I personally feel that British cult heroes should be played by British actors and actresses. Many people would agree with this. There are many reasons for this. An American, Canadian or Australian or indeed any foreigner does not grasp our context, and they end up turning something so simple to understand and making it difficult. A British actor would grasp the context and fully understand how something is supposed to be said, and no matter how much direction or how many dialect classes someone takes certain things lose something in translation. Hence why nobody other than us Brits understand that the word "******" is a derogatory statement. foreigners throw it around without fully understanding it. That is my whole point. To get the full context and understanding of a British role you need a British performer in that role.
I understand that more Brits are successful in America. The reason for this is because so much of American slang, and pop culture makes it over here so we have the edge. However a lot of our slang and pop culture never makes it over to America, hence they can never fully understand how to play Brits in movies or TV.
