RoboStir - HUH?

Doing my usual leisurely perusal of the LA Times Sunday paper this
morning. Came upon the Parade Magazine, which often has weird,
ridiculous or just plain head scratching gadgets advertised (in
between offers for fake U.S. Mint memorial coins and really bad
ceramic collectible dolls), when I came upon an advert for an
automatic stirring device. Looks like it belongs in those old Popeil
veg-o-matic type ads, AFAICS

I know it sounds absolutely preposterous, but it is a terrific gadget.
In my case, what with the rheumatoid arthritis, it is a real help, but
frankly, standing around stirring custard is not my idea of
scintillating fun anyway.

The idea isn't new, most chem labs have some equivalent and I got mine
on a lark for a song. Now I have my eye out at yard sales to get a
backup unit in case anything ever happens to Precious.
