RoboCop and Predator Films To Be REMADE!

Am I the only one who thinks this is a very bad idea?

Sony, the new owners of the entire movie catalogue of MGM have decided to remake the original RoboCop movie, and not only that, but they are going to remake Predator aswell.

Paul Verhoven won't touch the Robo remake with a bargepole, and Peter Weller seems to be staying away aswell, despite the fact that both Verhoven and Weller said they would like to do another film, but only a proper sequel to Verhovens 1987 original.

Who do you think will direct and play the main roles? Aren't Hollywood getting a little desperate now, where all they can do is remake near perfect films to make them more 'modern'?

Why should they be allowed to get away with this, they wouldn't remake classics like "It's A Wonderful Life" or "Gone With The Wind", so why do it to more recent but just as loved classics too?

Terrible idea. The first Robocop is a classic now and certainly isn't dated enough to warrent a remake. I won't even waste my breathe on the Predator issue.

I'll probably watch them both though.

Hang on Predator is Fox! Hence why

Predator leaRAB with Sequals through to Aliens

Predator - Predator 2- Alien vs Predator - Alien - Aliens - Alien 3- Alien Resurrection

its now a whole line of movies owned by FOX, nothing to do with MGM/Sony

Silly me, I know Predator is owned by Fox, but as it's also being remade, I forgot to give it a seperate mention, I just stuck it in with RoboCop!

Either way, both movies that are themselves around 20 years old each are being remade. Should they...? I think not!

I dont think there is any reason to re-make them, the first RoboCop and Predator were great films and should be just left not re made there no point as there still very watchable the originals.

I fully expect Robocop and Predator to have a 12 rating so they can get more bums on seats and of course that means $$$$ to the film studios.

I think that Hollywood are playing safe by remaking films for today's market so they can compare the two instead of making an original film and having to gamble on being a blockbuster or flop. More and more often now, film studio's announce a remake of a film and in my opinion, the original is often far superior to the new version (Assault On Precinct 13 for example).

Next up for the remake is Walter Hill's The Warriors....now I loved the original and I just hope the remake does some justice to it.

Should be left well alone. Robocop is just sheer excellence (first 18 rated film I watched) :D and Predator is just brilliant with it's action and cheesy quotes. The problem with Hollywood now is the lack of originallity. All that money thrown around and just no inspiration, there is so many orginal scripts being put on the back burner for these remakes, which lets face it are usually crap. Forget this Hollywood and lets have some originality.

I sincerely 'hope we can't see him.' :s

Probably WWE just trying to promote their boy's "Marine" movie with a little rumour spreading.
