Rev (BBC2 Comedy Series) - Mondays - 10:00PM

I really enjoyed this - thought the cast were good & the writing was sharp. It's also nice to have a decent half hour nugget to slot into an evening's viewing when you can't be bothered putting on a hour long show.

Did anyone recognise Rev Adam's assistant (apparently known as a Lay Reader)? It's Archie the Inventor from Balamory.

Which in a way is a good thing, as it's giving it a chance to develop, not setting the bar high it's slowly finding it's feet and like Miranda before it, may get another series. Compare how much Miranda and Rev have been advertised as such to say "Big Top" which was plugged to no end and flopped badly.

It's a cracker of a show, a pity that it doesn't seem to had had much publicity.

A lovely gentle comedy. It reminded me, in that respect, quite a lot of Early Doors.

That's odd as Lauren Laverne makes me go gooey.

Hollander is an amazingly versatile actor. Not one of these who always seems to play the same part.

I thougth this was a pretty decent opening episode, definately a couple of laugh out loud episodes. Loved the idea of giving the parents a Bible quiz to determine whether or not their kids got into the school.

I didn't think this week's episode was quite as funny as previous ones but still had one or two lol moments.

I'm particularly tickled that Adam still hasn't got very far with his reading of Rowan's Rule lol.

I came across a couple of interviews regarding the making of the series:

Anyone remember Richard Coles from the Communards? Well, he is now an Anglican vicar, and gave an interview in the Mirror about the things he comes across in his daily parish life - some of which have been used in Rev's storyline:

Tom Hollander also gives an interview on the series:

Rev is the first time I've seen Tom Hollander's acting. He has impressed me so much that I shall be keeping an eye out for his forthcoming roles.

I think he is gorgeous, too. :)

I'm really enjoying this series, I've started to save it for Saturday night as there's such a lack of decent entertainment at the weekend.

Tom Hollander was interviewed on Radio 2 yesterday afternoon and was absolutely charming (I can feel a crush coming on). He said the last episode is his and the writer's favourite so I'm particularly looking forward to that, whilst at the same time not wanting it to be over. :)

I do like it as teh characters are well written and acted, but every single week I see the "punchline" coming a mile off (alright, 3 out of 4 weeks so far as the 3rd didn't really have a punchline).

Colin breaking the window, the gentleman's club being behind the bus and Roland stealing his line and poem all seemed too obvious.

It is a beautifully acted gentle comedy. And as far as I can tell it is quite realistic. I love when he speaks to god, such truth in his fears and worries. It is hard to portray good people on tv..villains or OTT characters are much easier.

And I cheered when he got the better of the creepy charismatic too! :D

Just add my appreciation for Rev. Really funny, well-observed comedy and polished performances by all concerned. Hope there'll be a second series.

And I'm not surprised Adam had lustful thoughts regarding hot headmistress Ellie, she has the same effect on me!

I have loved Rev from start to finish although I think it has grown as the series has developed and we've become more familiar with the characters.
Tom and Olivia are perfectly cast and bring a real nuance to the people behind their public roles.
Completely marvellous. If the beeb doesn't commission another series, it will be an absolute crime!
