Rev (BBC2 Comedy Series) - Mondays - 10:00PM

This series has really grown on me, Tom seems an utter sweetie also. Is there a second series does anyone know? I heard Tom being talked over by Chris tarrant, but if he said so, I missed it.

The Archbishop of Canterbury likes 'Rev':

Among the fans of the series is the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, who thinks the series is "really rather good" and reveals "something about the continuing commitment of the church to run down and challenging areas. It also shows us someone who prays honestly." :)

Last episode tonight. :( I see it is written by Tom Hollander, so should be good.

ETA: Other members of the clergy give their thumbs-up to the programme:

I have really enjoyed this series. It is a gentle comedy and a bit unusual these days. Tonight's final episode was really funny with him having his crisis. But right at the end it became very poignant and actually brought a tear to my eye. Well done BBC for commissioning this and I hope it gets another series.

Yes, it is all quite realistic.

And I have a soft spot for the archdeacon: he told off the Happy-Clappy evangelist who wanted to reject someone who was not his kind of person. The archdeacon might turn out to be very supportive to the Rev as the storyline goes on.

Great acting from Tom Hollander and Simon McBurney, and all the others.

:)

I was in two minds about watching this on iPlayer but I'm thoroughly glad I decided to. This is the sort of high-quality comedy that (apart from Outnumbered) the BBC has been sadly lacking recently. Tom Hollander's acting is spot on and the pacing of the show is perfect - I wasn't bored once.

Now I just hope the BBC recomission Rev for a second run with the promotion it deserves.

I saw him first. ;)

He's brilliant, isn't he? Lauren Laverne was talking about him with a guest on 6 Music the other morning and they were going all gooey about him too.

I like it very much and last night's episode was the best yet, imo.

I think the actress who plays Adam's wife is marvellous.

Like Starpuss, I particularly like the way Adam talks to God.

Strangley enough the Evangelical was representing traditional church views against women priests and homosexuality. This is splitting the CofE at this moment with the possible election of a gay priest as the Bishop of Southwark a senior position in the Cof E.

I think it was the best so far. Laugh out load and then wanting not to look as Adam kept on making a total tit of himself.

To my mind the series had a touch of Reggie Perrin (70's one) about it.
