Im a long-haul solo female and have recently transferred to a dog-friendly company.

I'm researching what breeds/temperments can hopefully make for not only a low-energy, easily-trained well-mannered dog, but also for protection (trained protection vs general aggression).

I am open to checking into shelter mix breeds if someone could help me with choosing temperment.

Greatly appreciate all constructive comments.
I guess I should say up front that I'm not interested in the following breeds: Pit Bulls, Min-Pins, Jack Russels.
*1* What is wrong with a shelter mix?

*2* Let me define "low-energy". I dont mean "doesnt need exercise". He will be exercised 20-30min twice a day and 10-15min approx every 4hrs. I meant not high-anxiety.

*2* I am researching quality protection dog training kennels or private trainers at this moment, but know that there are breeds out there known for their instinctive protective traits.

*3* No I dont "need" a smaller breed. Smaller breeds (with noted exceptions) tend to do become extrememly yappy and aggressive due to such limitied socialization opportunities.

*4* In my own (some-what educated, and personally experienced) opinion, pit bulls are one of the worse breeds to suggest for life in a truck.
