(REC)/Quarantine

[REC] got extra points from me because it didn't make me feel ill from motion sickness, find that rather strange because every other film using this style has done, even 21 Grams and that wasn't point of view, just the camera work!

Got my DVD of (Rec) this morning. Although I've seen it a million times already (via download and cinema) I 'm quite looking forward to seeing it again and checking out the extras.

Got to say, it has to be one of the best horror films I have ever watched. Plot wise, there isn't much to it, basically a house full of zombies but what takes (REC) head and shoulders above the rest of the zombie movies out there is the superb acting, it's totally believable and the use of the camera only supports that sense of 'reality'.

Which brings me onto Quarantine. I've just seen the new trailer for it and I have to say it doesn't look so good. Whist it looks (plot-wise) exactly the same as the original, it seems to have lost that authenticity . What made (REC) such a unique experience has been totally glossed over by Hollywood, this could possible render it as just another zombie movie, which is a great shame. Still, I'll give it a go.

Here's the trailer - http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi3133276441/

I saw [Rec] in the cinema and it really scared me. I had to have all the lights on when I got home because I was alone:o lol. Films don't usually scare me.

Quarantine does look rubbish:(

It's a sad state of affairs when people can't be bothered with a film just because it has subtitles... not rude at all, just putting how silly it is. The bla bla was what I thought of that whole mentality, not just you.

Better :)

If you have a real problem with reading then I am sorry, but if you don't, I believe there is no excuse to not watch a film because it has subtitles, it's not hard to read them and watch at the same time.

If you want to miss out on a whole world of films, be my guest.

I enjoyed REC, had tincy bt of trouble keeping up with the subtitles as so fast paced and were in yellow.
That Quarintine trailer looks a crap rip off.

Um....it's a remake...so it's hardly a rip off :p

I was kind of underwhelmed by [REC], it wasn't as scary as it was made out to be imo and the story was a bit random to say the least (the last 10-15 minutes or so especially)

Watched the 'making of' documentary last night, that was extremely interesting.

One of the things I loved most about this film was that it was that rearrest of phenomenons these days, a 'word of mouth' movie. There was absolutely no hype surrounding the film, the only way I found out about the film was by going on a forum and hearing people say how good it was. It's such a pity that every film out there can't rely on it's own merit to draw in the crowRAB.

I thought she was pretty much dead. Why would she be dragged and not lifted? Although I guess that wouldn't be dramatic
Wonder what the sequel will be about.

Yay, I didnt realise trailers had come out for REC 2, I cant wait, I thought REC was a really excellent film, really really scary, I actually had nightmares for a few days after and had to keep turning the lights on  I've heard some people have been turned off by the subtitles though which is such a pity as its an amazing film!

I keep meaning to get the DVD, theres a special feature I want to see, something about a hallway and nails and a cupboard full of dead children? Heard its very creepy.

I enjoyed [REC]. Wasn't sure I would, because I'm not keen on films with subs.

Quarantine doesn't look as good (never seen the original) but I'll still watch it because I love zombie movies.

Yeah seen [REC], I also said that I hadn't seen Quarantine, which I thought was another remake.

So sorry for making a mistake
Are all FM's here as friendly as you?

The girl might
be in it thanks to the camera, maybe a character finRAB it and it shows her on it getting killed or something, I really believe that she is dead, unless some new characters from outside break into that room just in time to save her... I hope it turns out she is dead because she was an annoying character in the original, don't want to sit through her acting again.
:p

Yes, because it was said in a nasty way wasn't it? I can't imagine anything more vicious than pointing out someones mistake in the manner that I chose. *swoons*

Quarantine could have been a good movie, coz the make-up and zombies ARE SCARY.

It's just you don't get the opportunity to fix your eyes on them properly. As soon as anything exciting starts, the camera moves quickly, you hear screams, more shaking; what looks like it could be scary turns into a damp squib.

Very disappointing. I hated it, and switched off 40 minutes in.

A lost opportunity for all involved.
