Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

Meh. I don't find that very funny.

Not terribly important, but I voted for a 3 in the poll. Still a bit mixed on that assessment, but now that there's some distance away from it R2's imperfections compared to season one seem a bit more glaring. As a package from beginning to end Geass probably deserves a four, but giving a rating like that to R2 doesn't seem fair to a lot of other series that I would put in that range that don't require me to say "problems here and here notwithstanding, this is still worth your time."

Nothing CG does works very well because the writers have killed any sort of atmosphere since every episode is crammed full of things that just don't go well back to back. I can't really think of a good way to put this, but I just find myself laughing at the show even at the serious moments. I don't care for the characters really, I don't have any emotional investment in them.

I suppose...though if Nunnally turns up alive with the rest dead, that'd be one hell of a cheat.

Oh and my response earlier was a bit kneejerk, HC probably meant caring about the cast on a macro scale...I'm a bit stunned about Nunnally so that's who I thought of right off the bat.

Indeed. Maybe the forced fantasy world makes what had happened all the more tragic and reveals the sickness in Britannian society. All the merabers of the military and rebellion can see this farce, and it hurts even more according to them. Shirley has become the ignorant civilian that got swept into something she could never understand, and probably still didn't understand to the full extent when Lelouch (a person totally aware of what is going on) held her while she died.

And that's pretty much the tragedy at times of such disastrous deaths also in reality, people don't always get swept up into plots and intrigues, sometimes they are just the innocent civilians who have a slight modicum of knowledge on the issue, and when they're in the wrong place and time, they suffer incredibly, and die remaining ignorant and unenlightened about their quandary.

It depenRAB on what actually happens, really, but I have no problems at all with the idea.

The director has developed a bit of a reputation for screwing up the lives of his protagonists or at least making them very painful, so Lelouch's still going to suffer a lot no matter what (as if that wasn't clear enough)...but in the end he manages to turn things around to provide a more or less "happy" resolution, one way or another, in the end.

I've liked or enjoyed most of the series Taniguchi has directed, personally, so can't say I would find that anti-climatic, at least not in theory. Lelouch's made a lot of sacrifices and he'll still make a few more, but at some point he should at least achieve his objectives, even if they change due to the circumstances, and some sort of compensation or redemption wouldn't be out of line.

Doesn't mean people will not die (on the contrary, the way things are going, I think we'll still see a few more losses) or that all the dead will be revived (the only way I could see that working is with Marianne, of all people, since we don't even know what the real deal behind her is....but not really anyone else).

92. How come he got a new Knightmare. I want a cooler one too
91. I'm automatically blaming him for killing my one true love
90. I'm sick of all the yaoi pairings with me and him on the internet
89. I want a Geass too even though I don't act like it
88. I look cooler in sunglasses.

I've seen comments made like that towarRAB characters before, and they always end up dead one way or another (most of the time, anyway). I hope his warning really comes true.

Me too. Or at least, I want him to end up with Cecile some how before he kicks the bucket. On that same note I don't want Xingke to die either,although he's more likely to than Lloyd considering his habit of coughing up blood. If there is one final fight at the end, and Xingke takes part in it, I don't doubt the fact that he won't come back alive ;_;

Knights of the old republic shows the siths hate of aliens. Its the same for the empire.

OMG, YOU LOVE HITLER!

As for what Carlo Santos said...Well, I'm sure you can all guess what I'd say. And the reason he thinks code geass hates america is becuase he donesn't realize the american revloution never happen. Its the british not americans. He probally just looks at the map at the start of the show that has britaina's route of attack from america to japan and thought "omg, its america attack Japan". Moron.

And thank you Vallen Valiant. You express my views better than a lowly fanboy like me can.

Thank you so much for saying that so well.

Now, since I started this rant on racism (or against it or...err...you know what I mean), I think I'll take a break until the next eppy.

And yes, lets wait and see if anymore non-Japanese are viewed in a positive light.

But that insinuates that the Rebel X-Cup will fire two torpedos into the Death Star of good storytelling in which all good things that came from plot development would explode in a brilliant ring of fire.

I think a role reversal is in order.

They have been reading waaaaay too much CLAMP manga

(So Shaoran in Tsubasa is actually a clone that's the father of the real one from Cardcator Sakura which somehow makes them all related in some convoluted way)

Comments coming soon but still... Can't help but think this as a final say on the series if R2 doesn't end well.

"Code Geass R2 was the agonized grackle squawk of a series put through the pander ringer, utterly submitted to the fanboys and the weird girls who write erotic crossover fanfiction and smell like old meat. The mecha corabat is all I could recommend, but it’s hardly worth watching for that, you could probably replicate the experience by playing Rock ‘em Sock em’ robots with a friend, in a room full of centerfolRAB from porno magazines with emo music playing in the background, and offering pizza to whomever wins."
