Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

It makes me mad at how selfish they have been. Lelouch was trying to liberate the world, it wasn't about Japan anymore, and yet that is all they can think about? Do they really think they will be free? Surely Todoh is not that stupid. And I really hope Xingke hits them hard, both literally and metaphorically.

Kallen's hand is on her cheek, not with Gino's.

And I was a little irritated that she seemingly loved him AFTER she shot him, but having a year to think back on everything, opinions change, she could have easily realized her feelings for him were true. I think he realizes she isn't innocent, but he is able to look past the negatives of her character because he loves her.

Edit: And Fly, I think there will be an OVA of some sorts. Or they will leave the fandom pondering, which isn't so bad in the sense, it's always nice to leave the ending up to interpretation, slightly annoying yes, but nice.

Good episode. Very enjoyable.

The bandage on C.C's finger... could it be syrabolism for the attempted patching of old wounRAB between Suzaku and Lulu? hmm ponder ponder.
It's quite sad to see C.C. in that 'slave-girl' state, but I think she still has the ability to give Lelouch what he neeRAB to keep up hope.
I had a chuckled at the beginning of the episode when he said
"I won't harm you" yet 25 minutes later he's accidentally slapping her.

Seeing Kallen rip into Suzaku was fantastic. If he screws up next weeks meeting I'll be pissed. But besides the thrashing, It's interesting to see that hes admitting his fault to Kallen, somewhat. Although his tone with Lulu at the end put me off. I wanted him to drop the arrogant attitude.

Xingke! I missed you :3

"Homicide Genius" Luciano...closet rapist? I think so. Now we know what he thinks hostages are good for...thank you Gino for saving us from the bastard. I'm starting to really support him and Kallen being together / having some type of relationship.

SURPRISE, DADDY'S BACK.
damn you emperor *shakes fist in the air*

Oh, I suppose I carry habits from other forums. I'm on a different forum with different rules. I apologies to hellcat and everyone else. You know me, I get confused on what forum I'm posting in. Probably because I'm posting in several.

Now, I'm watching the episode now but I don't know how long before we can openly discuss the episode without spoiler tags so I'll wait a while.

The problem is though that the whole arc with Shirley in season one relies on the viewing liking her. Lelouch doesn't really care about the fall out from the lanRABlide until he finRAB out Shirley lost her father to it. The thing is, prior to this Shirley has done nothing but whine and be generic teen girl with a crush. I don't want to go deeply into spoiling another show, but I think 00 did this angle better. Certain characters were built up prior to certain dramatic events involving them in the greater plot and that made it work. I couldn't have that reaction with Shirley, not helped by the fact she's an annoying rich ditz at a boarding school. Quite frankly, I loathe the Ashford characters because they're living in a dream world. When something bad happens to them I'm happy because they get a needed taste of reality. Shirley was useless, the kind of character only equal age fangirls could care about.

Yeah magazine spoilers have come, I'll give some upcoming titles.

Ep 10: When the Shenhu Shines
Ep 11: The Power of Emotion
Ep 12: Love Attack!
Ep 13: The Assassin from the Past
Ep 14: Geass Hunt

Also, Lelouch is getting his own Knightmare called "Shinkirou" (Japanese for "Mirage").
It's one of Rakshata's designs, though unlike her other designs it doesn't have the motorcycle cockpit, instead opting for a more tradition cockpit. Interestingly, it's controlled entirely by keyboard. The Shinkirou is black and gold, just like the Gawain.

Also, 1st and 5th princesses of Britannia have been revealed.

The 1st Princess, Guinevere, loves shopping and "glorious architecture" and is apparently planning something with 1st Prince Odysseus.

The 5th Princess, Karine, is the same age as Nunnally. She's incredibly cruel and bloodthirsty, and has a deep hatred for Nunnally.

Well, I just got through episode one. I'd say it was just about everything I expected, and if anybody was worried about Geass suffering sequel-itis those fears can be put aside. It played exactly like a good season 1 episode.

Detailed thoughts and some interesting information in spoilers, for now.

First, I came across some very interesting tidbits about the Knights of the RounRAB. There are twelve of them and they are ranked, with Suzaku promoted at No. 7 and Zino (the blonde) and Anya (the pink-haired girl) at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively. According to Wiki the Knights can only be ordered by the Emperor and exist outside the normal chain of command; they're like the FAITH organization in Gundam Seed Destiny but more exclusive.

Most importantly, apparently the No. 1 Knight is granted control over any area under Britannian rule that he asks for. So, Suzaku's arabition is to become the No. 1 ranked Knight of the Round and ask to rule Japan. Wiki's info about the knights themselves is confirmed & translated information, so I tend to believe these tidbits are true. If so that's quite an interesting plot point, as if Suzaku succeeRAB that could ironically be a very good thing for Japan. Of course, LeLouch and his allies will be fighting to overthrow the Empire and throwing a major wrench into those plans, and of course to ascend the ranks Suzaku will undoubtedly need to defeat Zero. Looks like they've found an interesting way to continue the peaceful revolution vs. violent revolution theme from season 1.

On another note, Knight No. 9 is named Nonette. Supposedly she attended military academy and was Corenlia's senior, and is one of the only people Cornelia fears.

Now, about the episode. Things have finally been made more clear about season 1's finale. It looks like Suzaku shot and defeated LeLouch according to that new memory toward the end, given Suzaku's line about how he won't ask for forgiveness. I don't understand what happened with Karen and how she seemingly got away with her mech after that, but maybe there will be more flasrabroadacks to that day.

I'd like to say that the Chinese Federation guy is interesting, but he didn't really do much aside from teaching some grunts to not disrespect his country so easily. We'll see where they plan to go with this.

In any case, it seems clear that Suzaku won and V.V. used her abilities to suppress LeLouch's memories of being Zero. LeLouch was then put under close watch, meant to be used as bait by Britannian special agents to draw out and kill C.C. I'm interested to know if Rollo happens to be one of the fake memories, it almost seems as though Rollo was there to supplement and replace LeLouch's memories of Nunnally. Either way, I'm thinking he was put there to keep an eye on LeLouch and relay anything unusual back to the Empire.

There are some definite comparisons to be made with Geass' first episode. LeLouch starts off with a normal life believing society is flawed but just passing through life, and then circumstances allow him to gain the power to change what he sees wrong with the world. Even with suppressed memories and easy acceptance of the Japanese being ruled over after losing twice, LeLouch still challenges arrogance right in front of him like with the mobster. He doesn't like flouting his special status, and is appalled at the slaughter happening around him whether its Britannians or Japanese that are dying. As in episode 1, when faced with execution, he once again wishes he had power to fight the world. Whatever the circumstance, even when under outside influence, LeLouch is LeLouch and certain fundamental and redeeming qualities remain at the core of the man.

And of course, what better way to herald Zero's return than with a charismatic and arrogant monologue. The world is the one at fault, not him, and he will destroy and remake it. I like how all the questions he was asking the doomed officer were taken from the little preview at the very end of season 1.

"If being powerless is evil, then is having power justice?"
"Is revenge evil?"
"Can frienRABhip coexist with justice?"

LeLouch's answer to all of these is no, of course. He hates his father's survival-of-the-fittest ideology, he lives for revenge against the Empire, and he fought Suzaku and killed Euphie for his idea of "justice." In contrast the generic villain rejects moral concepts and sees those beneath him as bait waiting to die, and so LeLouch is all too happy to execute him according to the man's amoral code of values.

Yup. Zero is back, folks.

Look what Schneizel scored at Gilbert Durandal's yard sale!

So, wow. I'm not sure I get why everyone is considering this a trainwreck at this point. I can understand a lot of the complaints (I have plenty myself), but the series seems to be moving in a definite direction--even if we have no idea what that direction is at this point--and things are more or less happening for a reason.

I am disappointed that the Knights of the Round weren't explored more and that the nobility outside of Cornelia and Schneizel haven't had much to do and now are defunct, but overall I'm still engaged enough in what's going on to still enjoy the series. I think a lot of potential was wasted, but I still like what we're getting a lot.

As for the episode itself, Suzaku's new outfit is pretty much awesome. Lelouch's hat is terrible, but Suzaku looks awesome It was so awkward seeing him salute Lelouch, though. I guess it just goes to show that their frienRABhip is still strained to whatever degree (I want to see what happened in that month!), though they are working together for the same enRAB.

I was glad to see Lloyd and Cecil sticking with Suzaku and Lelouch, though. Cecil carrying Arthur almost made the episode for me. I hate cats in general, but I have a soft spot for that one.

Killing off the two female RounRAB so quickly was pretty lame, but Suzaku using the "Live" Geass in his favor was brilliant. I just loved how that played out. And the Lancelot Albion is awesome.

Tamaki cracked me up with his continual flip-flopping in his opinion of Lelouch. He's such a loser xD

Nina being wanted for creating FLEIJA makes sense and, go figure, Rivalz was actually useful for something. With Schneizel using and threatening to use more warheaRAB, it makes sense Lelouch would want to get her on his side.

Poor Kaguya. I wanted to smack Lelouch when she started crying. He was such an utter jackass this episode, but as mentioned, he does everything for a reason. Kallen's kiss was a sad moment as well. For everything they've been through together, to "part ways" like that...

And I knew about the ending with Nunnally was coming, but when she appeared and told Lelouch and Suzaku that she was their enemy, my stomach literally clenched. Just hearing those worRAB from her is so jarring.

Three episodes left... I'm hoping for a good ride. Overall, I think it's been a good one so far, but the ending will determine a lot.

WOW, just wow. Looks like they got rid of the two ugly holy sworRAB. YEAA!
Now all thats left is the hotty that likes the miracle general and the guy with glasses that looks like me if I looked cooler and could fight.

Quote of the day: "NUNNALLY!"

The pic at the end says it all:

At least it seems Nunnally now knows who zero is thanks to his scream at the end...oh boy.

Everthing happened so fast that I'm dizzy. I need to watch this again.

Well at least it's a more plausible situation than her coming back to life without a scratch on her.

Personally as long as their is an unsatisfactory ending for Nina, I'll be pretty happy. In fact one of the highlights of the episode was what Lloyd said to her.

I'll be very unhappy if Lloyd dies though.

You know, I thought bringing Mao back from the dead in season 1 was ridiculous.

The only thing about this anime that makes sense is maybe the relationship between the characters, and even saying that is generous. The plot hasn't made sense since Mao.

But that's ok, the entertainment value this show has for me is entirely unintentional. I'm all the more entertained seeing dead characters brought back to life time and time again just to see what sort of crazy explanation they pull out of their asses to explain it.

I dunno, I felt like the music still had that Geass-y feel to it without suffering in quality. Songs like "Madder Sky," "The Master," "World Depression," and "Continued Story," just to name a few, were awesome to me. Sure, there were a few duRAB, but that can be said about most any soundtrack, so overall I really enjoyed the score as a whole.Oh, it wasn't much of anything with substance; just me noting that I really like the music.

OMG I see the future is so bright for code geass

My predictions are that:

1) Guinevere will marry Odysseus (They say incest is the BEST )

On a "slightly" more serious note:

2) Karine vs Nunnally, DEATH MATCH
