Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

I'll edit this comment as I go, but damnit...

One thing that really pisses me off is how easily 3 RounRAB were killed off. Honestly, maybe Gino was right and they didn't truly earn their position? That really angers me. I guess we now know that the Tristan Twin will be going to Gino, perhaps he will now survive?

I haven't gotten to the kiss yet, but that just raised her death flag a significant amount. Yay.

Oh and Lelouch and Suzaku look badass in their new outfits.

Edit:
Wow, are the OOtBKs really that stupid? And this pretty much killed all chances for KallenxLelouch. I had something else to say...but I cant remeraber, more later.

Edit: Opening turned back to day. So I suppose things are looking brighter for Lelouch?

I ended up liking the episode, with some fairly good action and character moments, but a high tolerance for WTF was necessary. That will either make or break this episode for many.

One of those WTF moments was within expectations but perhaps a little anti-climatic, one came completely out of nowhere and is a little annoying, one was surprising but enjoyable, and the last one was bound to happen sooner or later anyways.

Still, it set everything up for the ending.

That said, this is certainly not the best anime airing in Japan or anywhere else...but I think that deserves a little elaboration, even if I think that statement is indeed a bit ridiculous, honestly.

First off, I don't like to rank things in general. All I would probably argue is R2's the one I'm personally enjoying the most regardless of the quality each particular episode displays, but that doesn't mean it is "the best" overall.

There are far better executed shows out there that may be more deserving of such a title, but even that could be argued in each particular case. Better to simply not try to rank things, in my opinion.

Zero's private quarters

"Ah, Kallen. Come in"
*she does so, music is playing*
"What is this?"
"A singer called Barry White"
"But he doesn't exist in this timeline-"
"Just shut up and let's do it already!!"

I definitely think season 1 was the better season, but I think that people blow R2's flaws out of proportion. Unless the final episode is absolutely terrible (and with the way 24 played out, I doubt it will be), I'll be satisfied with Code Geass as a whole.

As for 24, I was impressed. It moved quickly without being rushed. The action was intense but engaging, and it felt pretty balanced. I hope Suzaku and Gino can reconcile their differences in the end--provided he survives his fight with Kallen, and I'd be very surprised if he doesn't--since Gino is just awesome and I'd hate those two to end on opposite sides.

I actually didn't hate Nina this episode. Color me shocked, but I liked her scene with Lelouch. Character development, like whoa.

The C.C.xLelouch scene was nicely done as well. I was never a huge fan of the pairing, but it's played out well enough for my liking. I'm okay with it.

Lelouch using the Mao trick to beat Schneizel was awesome. When he stepped up and put a hand on Schneizel's shoulder, I wanted to jump up and cheer. Good stuff.

Diethard... hah, he totally got what was coming to him. And then Lelouch denied him in his last seconRAB. Not even worth Geassing; I love it.

As for Nunnally opening her eyes, I knew it was bound to happen, but it still caught me off-guard. It's so weird seeing her with eyes open now. I like that she overcame the Geass on her without needing Jeremiah's canceler; it shows that despite appearances, she actually is strong; like Euphie.

Now I'm left to wonder how one episode is going to tie up Lelouch vs. Nunnally, Suzaku vs. Kallen, and everything else. The way things played out in 24, I have faith; I'm just curious. Can't wait to see how things play out. Whether the final episode is good, bad, or amazing, it's been a fun ride.

Indeed. I'd like to know what happens to certain people though. Provided these "GoRAB" or perhaps even the Cult doesn't kill them all...

And 17 is very interesting, along with 15, it is about time we learned about the details of Geass.

Oh and one thing, pertaining to your rebellion statement...

Is it considered a rebellion anymore when a large portion of the world supports you? I forget what it would be called, but...

So an evil power who wants to dominate the world is based in what we know as the United States.

Wow I've never heard of that in an anime before...

Loved ep 2, but I really don't get how this plays out with Lelouch going back to school. Unless it really is all just some larger "culling" by the Emperor to ultimately find the best person to succeed him and this is part of his test for Lelouch.

He has every right to be sarcastic and voice is opinion in such a way just like you have every right to voice the fact that it pisses you off, which you're doing.
If anything, he's insulting the show, not you.
Listen to Alucard when he says that people like to voice there opinions around here, and very loudly at that.

It does when you follow the Tomino model.

"Ah Teen Girl Squad, which one of you is going to be run over by mutant Venus flytraps today?"

It's going down to the wire to determine HOW Geass will be remerabered. But I will say throwing away a long running character like they did with Cornelia doesn't help matters.

All right, in a lame attempt to start some extra discussion: I was really let down by the music this season. They brought back the same composing team as last time but I just didn't feel any of the new stuff they composed other than the Guren theme, which sounRAB like it could've been on the Iron Man soundtrack (aka it is awesome).

Something that has always bothered me about Code Geass' music is that it feels so cold and aloof, there has never been much of a soul in the music. That seemed to be especially true in R2. It also didn't help that it seemed the music budget had decreased a lot because there was a lot more electronics employed as well, which decreased the music's individuality.

I don't know, I've felt let down by R2 in general so perhaps it is not surprising the music feels lackluster to me as well.
