And Lelouch pwns yet again. How do you smuggle your private army out of the country without the enemy doing anything about it? Make the enemy promise to do it for you. And so, as a goodbye gift to Nunally, Lelouch is conveniently removing the Black Knights from Area 11, allowing him to fight his battles without interfering with hers.
The blond knight seems like more of a dick than first thought, judging by his apparent glee at the prospect of a purge.
Has Schneizel ever actually acted evil on-screen? They've given him this really sinister look in all of the OPs, but in his (very few) moments of screentime he's always looked like this wishy-washy Treize wannabe.
Lol @ Nina failing to blow up the school because she forgot to arm the borab properly.
Also lol @ Suzaku being called a masochist, although he did still effectively condemn the would-be assassin to death by not interfering.
In spite of that, this was definitely an episode focused on underlining the similarities between our two antagonists rather than the differences. They both care about many of the same things, and they also both want to do the right thing - and regardless of whatever he may feel personally (and I'm not convinced that Lelouch does hate Suzaku anymore), Lelouch still trusts his onetime friend to stand by those principles first.
One thing I found interesting was Suzaku's question: not "Why did you use the Geas on Euphemia and send her to butcher my countrymen?" but "Why did you kill Euphemia?" Could Suzaku have learned that the massacre was an accident?
I also /facepalmed at the "BURNING HEART OF JAPAN" segment. (The mask is a nice effect, but you just can't pull off a line like that without wearing pointy red sunglasses.) Still, the "JAPAN IS SUPERIOR" line seems to contradict everything else that Lelouch - and even his followers - have been saying since the season began: that even though the fight began in Japan and has focused on it thus far, it's really the world's fight against tyranny that we're dealing with here. It'll be interesting to see what happens to that attitude when the Black Knights have to live as guests in China.
