Okay, time to add in my two cents in regarRAB to Ougi and Viletta. If there is anything that makes it a bad pairing was its execution. It could have been a really good pairing and everything, but given the rather glaring weaknesses at times of R2's storytelling, it was really half-assed. At the end though it seems to be a minor contrivance and I would not have minded if they got married if done well. Now it's just some somewhat minor inconvenience that tarnishes a bit more of the season's lustre, but nothing that made the show crash and burn. Yes I expected better but... eh, it happened.
And now "Code Geass: Ougi and Viletta of the Flip-Floppy Love Pairing" show is over, now back to the regular programming: "Code Geass: LELOUCH OF THE REBELLION"
----------------------------------
So yeah I watched Episode 25 twice over (both in raw and subtitle form), and I was pretty stricken with awe from beginning to end. They in the end didn't let up in terms of action and suspense in the first half. The confrontation between Nunnally and Lelouch was a remarkable highlight of the episode, where Lelouch who wanted to give an ideal world to Nunnally is set back by a shattering reality that it may not be what she wanted. Thankfully Lelouch doesn't hold back on Nunnally in terms of his plans, so it was good to see that he still is crossing thresholRAB without any remorse.
Suzaku and Kallen's final battle with one another was absolutely intense from start to finish. It was good to at least see one final brawl between them and it ended with a nice stalemate. Same goes with Anya vs. Jeremiah. It was a damn shame though that Jeremiah didn't have enough time to do more of these awesome things. And in some sense I did enjoy the ending to the battle. It's a nice twist to the usual, "Destroy the floating fortress and conflict will end" that's usually found in certain anime. But I digress.
...The second part was something else entirely. I'm kindof an exception to the rule of people because I didn't cry when Nunnally had to see Lelouch die. But I cannot deny how powerful it was and that I almost really choked up with it. Regardless of all the series flaws, this was... wow. And then as we realize that this was the Zero Requiem that Lelouch was planning all along, it becomes all the more powerful. What a way to go. Probably not the GREATEST way to go, but in the end it seems all to fitting for an exiled prince turned rebel leader turned emperor who deceived his way to victory to go. I don't honestly think that him as Emperor in the scheme of things (even if it became so at this time than in 21) would have benefit the series in this regard. Still, powerful stuff overall.
Now comes the tricky part, the epilogue. This was perhaps the weakest part of the episode, yet bore the most responsibility. Having Kallen though narrate it allows it a nice perspective on the fate of everybody through somebody who has been there from the beginning and shared the lives of both sides. Yeah maybe the world is not that the one where Nunnally can live in peace, but at least she's still in power, with Geassed Schneizel by her side and SuZero standing on the opposite. While it would have been nice to see more suitable epilogues for all the players, it's... at the least alright to see that life went on regardless of Lelouch's 'death'. It is disheartening though we cannot really see the progress that happened after that (was everyone in the BK all like... HUZZAH or... WTF... or sad?), THEN show the happy stuff. But alas, that wasn't the case and, God willing there's an OAV, we get to see how everybody's been doing. At the least though there's an attempt to make frienRAB than antagonize.
As for the final part with C.C. on the hay wagon and her saying Lelouch. Well, regardless of whether Lelouch is alive or not, it was a nice twist at the end. Fitting for Geass in particular. Personally I don't care if Lelouch is alive or dead, at the very least he carried himself through to the end. I'm just glad I was able to at least see him through and to a relatively satisfying ending for him.
In the end, I liked the finale. Not the best one, but it had a lot of highly redeemable qualities that were only bogged down by an okay epilogue. But I'll for the moment take what I can get, regardless of whether or not an OAV will appear. Yeah it would be more satisfying to do so... but eh. There we go.
Expect a full review of the season later this week.

And now that that's out of the way. I have a request to a certain mod who has offered to do this for me. You know who you are. Now...
[strike]I... JuuJouch Vi Britannia, creator of this thread, command you [geass]... To erect a poll so that people may rate this series! Set it up, and from descending order put it from 5 down to 1, and let it be so that people will see how other people rated the show. Let it be that as they vote the whole world will know their standing on R2 on final basis. This. I. Command!
And when you acknowledge this request, affirm with with a "YES! Your Highness!"[/geass][/strike] Fooey, it turns out I can create a poll...
