Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

If that happens, I'll be a very angry fangirl.
But my personal feelings aside, I don't think that would be a good ending for Suzaku. He's spent so long wanting to die to atone for his sins, but the people that cared for him throughout wanted him to keep living. I don't think it would be a satisfactory end to his character because he wouldn't end up realizing the value of his life; Lelouch Geassed him to live and Euphie wanted him to live. For those things to be so important and then for him to die anyway? I wouldn't find that satisfactory in the least.

I think Rolo is really just a misunderstood kid that has had a rough life. He may not be ALL bad (because he cares about Lelouch), but he's still a scary person to have around. After all. Would you keep someone around that could blink and kill you without you realizing it? I think not. I wouldn't agree that he's a big bastard. He wants to defend Lelouch from anyone that can hurt him because he thinks he's his brother, and that's what they would do. He doesn't even see the possibility right now of Lelouch wanting him dead. That's why my prediction is sort of iffy. Something tells me he'll die in a "Not so awesome" way.

I was taking GWOtaku's advice. But given how uneven R2 is, I read it in hopes they'd finally be getting their act togethor. Like I said, some of it made me glad but in general...ugh as always.

Late to the party. Love the show so far, but ending Season 1 with Lelouch getting Geassed would've made for a much better and less frustrating cliffhanger.

Season 1 finale loose enRAB yet to be addressed:
CC vs. Jeremiah - how did that one work out, since both are evidently still in the game, at least judging by the OP?
Where did Cornelia go after knighting Suzaku?
Both answers to come, one hopes.

Episode 3 stuff:
Aww, sounRAB like the governor didn't get squished to death by the tower after all. What a waste of an awesome ploy.

Karen neeRAB to stop taking showers. Every time she does she gets pwnt.

Chinese Guy With Sword = Raraba Ral/Kelly Layzner/Godwald/Andy Bartfeld of CG?

Suzaku's still desperately trying to be a hero, which doesn't work out too well when you're forcing European nations to bend over and take it up the tailpipe from Britannia Area 11-style.

On that note, I'm actually getting much more of a "good guy" vibe from Lelouch now than I ever did during Season 1. He's been showing a lot more concern for his subordinates and frienRAB this time around. Maybe being a Geass victim has mellowed him out a little. Maybe the writers are hoping we won't notice. The scene where Shirley tells him she wants to ride on a rail car, inadvertently triggering a flasrabroadack to her Geas scene from Season 1, was great.

I wonder if they wiped out Milly's knowledge of Lelouch's heritage? Seeing as how she figured it out on her own before the rebellion even began.

Loved the little focus on Viletta's face when she saw Ougi on the execution broadcast. This is one of the big conflicts I was looking forward to seeing more of in Season 2.

lol Rolo

I dunno. Full Metal Panic manages to do so and with great success, given the way their first series worked and the jumps between that of Fumoffu and the Second Raid.

But there is a point to be made in regarRAB to Code Geass is in some essence under in particular some schizophrenic desire both to pander to fans and to make them ponder. As if they want to reassure fans that they can have their pizza and eat it too, regardless of what happened in the last few episodes of season 1.

And Lelouch massacred children who were victims themselves. I cannot help, but laugh at the hypocrisy of many in the Lelouch fandom whenever that’s addressed. Those kiRAB were not as unstable as Rolo nor were they beyond being saved they were simply victims of the cult.

As for as Rolo is concerned, he is dangerous, true, but how is manipulating a psychopath for your enRAB any more “noble”?

I feel the same. I am on the fence though. I don't hate him nor do I want him to die. On the otherhand, I don't see anyway for him to reedem himself, but I suppose you cannot imprison him so I am with Mr. Toto on this.

Schneizel's name sounRAB a lot like weizel. Coiensidence? Probably since it is a Japanese show, though he is a little bit of a weizel.

Schneizel the Weizel, that is a good nick name for him.

It would make a great poster

From the memento blog:

I can't see that happening but it would be fun to give one more reason to kill Rolo.

So Lelouch could be totally alone at the end of this episode. He has been sperated from Kallen and Organge-kun and CC has lost her memories which is better than her being killed because she can always regain her memories. CC has always been Lulu's greatest ally so not having her with him is a major blow.

True, but still the ones that have been onhand in terms of action had their asses handed to them. Some of us were not so much scared, but deeply offended by it. But then again it would help the series if the ending would be bittersweet. The last thing I want in R2 is that "Britannia is saved! Peace is at hand! Everybody loves one another (except for you Rivalz, nobody loves you.)" kind of ending.

You... all of you who had been warned by GWOtaku and did not follow his advice...

WEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAK!

With that said, the rather big fuss about all this and GWO's warning has intrigued enough to try and remain in the dark about it. If you want me to feed you some barbwire until it comes out of your other end and have me floss you to death with it, best you try not to spoil it to me.

Heh, if Rolo was responsible for Marianne's demise, his death will be even more fitting than I thought.

Meh...never did like these plastic figurines. They don't have very good detail, and too many are just obvious fan bait like that Kallen one. They're just so artificial, to me it only works if you're getting the chibi ones. Then you can justify it for novelty's sake, at least. Personally, I'd rather use the money they cost to buy something else.

I just like how the opening reveals what I surmised for a long time: The Britannian Emperor has the Geass. It's not called "The Power of the King" for nothing.

The one year time skip with no immediate resolution of Season One's cliffhanger did not seem that bad. Perhaps Kallen's bounce distracted me from that. The multiple throwbacks of the first episode were cute especially the chess scene and the mass suicide. Once Lelouch, or what my friend likes to call Le******, returned to his old self, it felt as if it was a return for the fandom to its old self. The high school hijinks done in Ashford Academy bring some lightheartedness but does not make the show, and the sight of Knightmares bowing to Lelouch gives me chills.

As I like theorizing, here is what I think happened at the end of Season One. Lelouch was shot by Suzaku and left for dead. Kallen collapses from the shock of Zero's identity and supposed death. Suzaku goes to V.V., and the boy assures that Nunnally will be taken care of by the Emperor. They leave to their respective rendezvous while C.C. miraculously comes ashore, revitalize the catatonic Kallen, and discovers that Lelouch is still alive. With the rebellion in sharables and Nunnally taken away to another place, C.C. does not want Lelouch to suffer for his failures, and does a Geass memory seal thing and resuscitates Lelouch. Lelouch is sent back to Ashford, and C.C. banRAB together the last of the Order of the Black Knights to regroup. The rest is history.

It's just good to wake up to the smell of fresh Geass.

Here a countdown to the new eppy:

nippon banzai!

The issue I see here is that Kallen's family subplot was...already in the background. I think it served most of its main purpose already: to establish her character.

Her mother's either jailed or in a hospital (or both) and Kallen's fighting for her sake, her brother's dead and only alive in spirit as a form of motivation (unless you expected otherwise, but I'd guess not), and her father was in Britannia without even giving us a hint of why that would absolutely need to come up.

Granted, her father could have come into play during her captivity (assuming that would still have happened) or if the action had ended up in Britannia earlier on, which could have been interesting and an improvement of her character, but other than something like that I don't immediately see any room for that much more.

The fanservice was always there -as was the Gundam homage-, it's even inherent to her design (just look at her clothes if nothing else), although it did get a bit more blatant in quantity if not quality. Would that have happened anyways? Hard to say, but it would not disappear all of a sudden.

Finally, R2 seems to have gone in the direction, originally planned for season one but cut during production (according to Celiss Galvea, who summarized the recently famous Taniguchi interview and translated lots of other stuff back in the day), of developing a more romantic subplot between her and Lelouch. In that sense, I think R2 is actually, ironically enough, closer to carrying out part of the staff's original plans in that regard, in spirit if not to the letter.
