Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

You keep saying that everyone got paired, but they didn't...

We have...

OhgixVilletta
ChibaxTodoh- Developed decently, they have been together for quite awhile, it only makes sense something develops.
TianzixXingke- Not sure if they are actually in love, or if this is moreso a big brother type situation, so we won't count this one.
CCxLelouch- Developed quite well, they have been through a lot.

I might be missing like 1 or 2 more, but that really isn't a lot.

So, because they are character you just dislike, that automatically makes it a bad romance? Righhht.

And as Zorabie said, this is a TV show, not everything has to be ridiculously realistic, and their romance for the most part was developed, they have certainly had their ups and downs and in the end they loved each other.

I don't think the writers got lazy, I just think you are upset that 2 characters you dislike got together. There is a difference.

It seems like most people who didn't like the end have felt R2 was getting progressively worse almost from the get-go. That group was certainly vocal in their complaints the whole way through. Your comment suggests you're in a slightly different category. What about the end was unbelievably bad, compared to everything proceeding it this season? Or have I misunderstood?

It doesn't always have to be about 00. However, a ) I find 00 to be a suitable series to compare Geass R2 to b) They are linked in mutiple ways. Even Sunrise is organising a 00/Geass crossover event.

Twists and turns, as usual. Lots of good stuff in this episode, plus the requisite pointless ARGH "let's cater to the hormones by hinting that it's a harem/yaoi show, tee-hee!" fanservice moments.

Lelouch Geassing an entire train car of people just so he could be alone was a nice touch, in an amusing sort of way.

And then Rolo decides to start playing with him. As usual, there are multiple possibilities: Rolo could be worried that his "brother" will get killed if he keeps up the fight, or he could be trying to prevent Lelouch from hooking back up with Nunnaly (which would result in his being abandoned,) or he's back to being the empire's agent and is just trying to eliminate a threat to national security.

Drugs, Lelouch? Damn, this did hit you hard...

Karen was awesome in this episode. Sorry kiRAB, but going all dreamy at the chance for a kiss from Lelouch would be just pathetic in this situation. She has her priorities straight; Lelouch is her respected commander first and foremost with "love interest" being a distant second, and indulging him in his self-pity would accomplish nothing. The best part was the "what the hell was I just doing?" look on his face after she slapped him. He's lucky to have her around, because that could well have been the end of the line for him right there.

Shirley mentions Karen as one of the people she wants to come back to Ashford so that they can all be together again. Looks like she wasn't purged from the collective memory after all, which pokes at least a couple of medium-sized holes in the "Milly is a traitor" theory.

Ah, Lloyd. Is Cecile's cooking (if simple sandwich-making qualifies as cooking) really that bad, or do you just have a tender and sensitive tongue?

Speaking of which, interesting little smile on Lloyd's face when Nunally makes her public announcement. Not threatening or sinister at all (not that he's ever been that kind of character). Is he rooting for Nunally for bucking the Imperial tradition of hatred and bigotry, or is he just hoping that this leaRAB to more conflict with the Black Knights and another chance to show off his toys?

Nunally will turn out to be a thorn in the Empire's side, judging by her videophone conversation with the big cheese. It's actually a nice little bit of irony. The Emperor can't Geass her into oblivion because she can't see, but he also can't just disappear her because he neeRAB her alive to keep Lelouch under his thurab. Now she's going ahead and doing the exact opposite of what Britannia stanRAB for, and he can't overtly do anything about it.

Suzaku thinks to himself that he lied to Nunally. About what? Did I miss something?

So Zero's triumphant (re)return involves wiping out a Britannian fleet with what amounts to a giant fart in a bathtub?

Lelouch may be planning something by going back, or he may see this as a chance to renew his agreement with Euphemia and try again, this time without any accidents. Either way, if the Japanese Magic Happy Land is going to work, Nunally neeRAB to have Zero's support; the reaction she got from the locals mostly consisted of "ha, like we'd fall for that one again." Zero "switching sides" may well provoke a Japanese rebellion, but it's the only option that has a chance of succeeding.

It's interesting to see the direction that Suzaku has gone in now. Although he was always intentionally a flawed character, he was most often working for the greater good in some form even if it was partly a charade. It seems now he's gotten sick of the fact that no matter how hard he tries everything will go wrong anyway and is now openly letting the sheer anger and fatigue from that drive him. I think that's somehow true to life, in that even the greatest idealists can have a breaking point and eventually they get sick of thinking 'If I keep at it, someday it'll get better, surely" and the sheer lack of anything positive to show for all their pain just pushes them into desperation to seek some kind of significant accomplishment.

Whoa, those background pictures are gorgeous . . . and I like the new OP and ED as well.

Unfortunately, I'm probably going to wait for AS to cycle through the first 25 episodes before I begin watching season 2. So this is probably going to be my only post in this thread for a long while.

You know, even though all the signs point to Rolo killing her, I still have my suspicions. It was never shown exactly what happened, and it might just be the intention of the creators to make us think that it was really he who did the deed. While I don't know about Sayoko, and it still could very well be the doings of Rolo, I'm leaving and open mind for this one...
Regardless, her death scene was so incredibly sad. Lelouch was absolutly helpless to keep her alive and it only reasserted the notion that even our most desperate attempts sometimes can't save the ones we love, and for Lulu, who usually has a cool head and plan for everything, was at a loss. ;_;
Despite the fact that the first half of the version I saw wasn't exactly working, from what I managed to see, it was still a very good episode.

GAAAAH Higurashi! It's one of those shows that even watching once is far more than enough. >_

Kallen: "You are Geass...this is what happens to Geass when executives meddle *first blow* And this is the fanservice! And the forced comedy!! And the painful harem antics!!!....Any questions?"

I'm sorry, it's apparently easier to assume the worst with me... Forgive me for not going 'ZOMG best episode evar!!'. Just because I'm not raving like everyone else doesn't mean I hated it. 7 years, people...I thought most of you would know how to read me by now.

I actually thought episode 8 went a long way in making this season's Suzaku a bit more sympathetic. When he was wondering if Lelouch's memories were back and if they were, he wanted to know why Lelouch had killed Euphie. Rather than thinking about how he wanted revenge as he had been, it was more of a need for answers and closure, I think. Then we had the candle scene with Nunnally and his talk with Anya that showed something of a softer side--especially him thinking about Euphie. We got a little more insight into the way he's been thinking. And then the final part with Zero when he didn't order the soldiers to fire as well as making Zero promise to protect the Japanese he was taking with him. I think those things helped paint Suzaku in a better light than he has been the rest of the season (and I'm not just speaking as a Suzaku fangirl here).

On a totally different topic, I found it very interesting that Suzaku remerabered the "Live" Geass. There is supposed to be memory loss right before, during, and after the command. And yet, he remerabered it. Hm...

I'd say its mere compensating for the fact that the thread for season 1 of the show was only 3-4 pages long for some reason. Obviously, plenty of us have opinions about it now.

Really, that should be amussing.

Does this mean I can have my dream battle of Ghram vs C.C. in a massive mecha battle?

I think my last post said it all on this subjuct. Both show have their style and just because someone doesn't like the sytle of one show doesn't mean the show isn't well made or the other show is better.

After all, both Code Geass and Gundam 00 have won awarRAB becuase they are both excelent shows.
