WIth the news or Rocky horror remake, are classic films 20-30years old going to be remade constantly ie in another 30 years will there be a re-make on the remake or remakes of films currently out?

remakes made of 20-30 year old films that i can think off.

superman
willy wonker

posideon was remade as well

theres talk of a remake of a nightmare on elm street
and although a tv show brideshead revisited in having a remake coming out soon

Well, if you look at all the Dracula films that have been made over the decades remakes are just re-telling stories for new audiences.
Rocky Horror is a stage musical by origin and musicals vary according to who's in them. Not sure about Sky's plan to update it ithough.

To be fair Superman Returns wasn't a remake, more a continuation of the franchise started in the 1970s.

Actually I don't really consider any superhero movies remakes as there have been various interpretations over the years. A true remake to me is when the story is the same or close to the original movie.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory wasn't a remake of the original film, it was just another take on the book, not the Wilder film. Plus the new one was closer to the book. Prefer Burton's version of the book.

Unless a 'remake' sticks to the original story it should have no right to call itself a remake, nor to use the original title. e.g. The Thomas Crown Affair. The Pierce Brosnan version altered who Thomas was, so it was NOT 'The Thomas Crown Affair'.
Besides which the original, with Steve McQueen, was perfect anyway. :)

And IMO some films are so iconic that they should never be remade. e.g. The Great Escape, Gone with the Wind

Films in preproduction...

Death Wish (remake)

Robocop (remake)

Red Sonja (remake)

Thundercats (CGI film based on 1980s cartoon series)

Escape From New York (remake)

Nightmare On Elm Street (remake)

Alice In WonderLand (remake of the book or the film version)

Death Race (remake - released 22nd Aug 2008 in the US)

This week it was reported a remake of Ghostbusters could happen.

Who you gonna call?

Remakebusters! ;)

I think the remake of Psycho could be all-time worst remake! It was the same film - shot exactly the same, the director copied Hitchcock's camera movements - but with new actors and including a new scene where Norman Bates er... masturbates.

Surely a contender for the most pointless remake ever! I am big fan of the original Psycho but I refuse to watch the remake. I've never seen it nor intend to see it.

exactly what I was gonna say.

And if they are going to make remakes of todays remakes, then thats fine, as long as the movie execs are making their money, and people are goinng to watch them. Its all cool:)

I would love to see a remake of Ghostbusters, or even better which I think they would do, is "another" movie:)

Who ya gonna call................................**everyone shout, GHOSTBUSTERS**:D:D:D:D
