I watched the 20 minute interview. WOW! That was painful. It's a shame that if believes in something, he can't just say it.

"Of the people, by the people, for the people..."

Looks like yet another "of business, by business for business" Republican Wall Street sack riding cranks. I hope his campaign fails.

Absolutely not. The world's smallest minority is the individual. You cannot claim to be a supporter of minority rights if you don't support the rights of the individual, including his right to do with his property as he pleases.

This one already got posted everywhere. Weigel seems to have the most consistent defense of Paul without getting nutty on his Washington Post blog.

i actually don't think he losing that debate...he made it clear that private businesses should have the freedom to server whoever they want, but that he is NOT in favor of racism of any kind

but more importantly.....

why does any property belong to any one man?

why do people have rights, but not inanimate objects?

wouldn't that make inanimate objects the worlds smallest minority?

its useful as a practical abstraction granted.....but philosophically speaking...why does property make sense?

Inanimate objects, (specifically business), have more rights than individual on some perspectives.

the government forcing people to give out mortgages meme. we see now from the Magnetar and Abacus deals that the banks did not object to said giving out of mortgages. in fact, it looks clear that they were lovin it. it was a bubble that was inflated along the way with everyone getting a piece of the pie.

Rather than complain about people getting mortgages they shouldn't be getting, the banks shorted those deals.

what government created monopolies are you referring to?

What's the difference between not letting someone into a private business due to discrimination, and not letting someone into a private household due to discrimination?

If I walked into a Christian church in Muslim attire and started an Allah is great chant, would it be ok for them discriminate against me and kick me out?

bd is racist, trying to project it on anyone/everyone else. It made sense in his mind...let him run with it.

wat?

He just came out and said he'd vote for the civil rights act. If he thought he could be helped by this issue he wouldn't have done that. He knew his position was hurting him so he flip flopped.

what in the name of christ do the laws on limited liability and responsibilities of a corporation have to do with regulation?

I dont think he really "lost' the debate either, but it sure did make him look bad.

Mr. DownwithGovandUpwithBigBusiness. Both are pretty bad in my book, but at least the Gov we can vote out people/laws. Business shouldnt have the right to do whatever it feels and have no checks and balances.

Government is for the people by the people. Big Business is for the money and by even more money

nothing more or less.

like this oil that is leaking all over the place. why is it British Petroleums oil? it belongs to the earth. BP is stealing it.

The conversation isn't about regulation, it's about the government involvement in business.
