I have always been interested in other religions. Islam has always sparked a particular interest in me. Their is just so much culture and tradition involved in it. But I have a serious question and need serious answers, not jokes. I recently became friends on myspace with an egyptian boy. I of course want to ask him about his life and hobbies and such, but I also suspect him to be gay. I would have no problem with this, and would still want to be friends with him. However I really want to know. I read online that being gay in Egypt and in most Islamic countries is either looked down upon or illegal. I do not want to get him in trouble, but I would really like to know, so I could talk to him about issues that he most likely does not get to discuss at home. He seems like a very cool person, and I just need to know if I should ask him. Will this offend him? Is their a way that the Egyptian government can discover his communicating online about gay issues and arrest him? And please, no stupid answers. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
