hi, i was just wondering if anyone knew what the term "complementary copy" meant?, i know its something to do with ads in magazines, etc, but i dont know the exact definition, also i needed to know how it gave advertisers undue influence.
Thank you
its just i tried looking online, and in my notes and i could not find it, so any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

This is just a guess, but a complimentary copy is something you give away. Something free.

If the Magazine is given away, then the person placing the add does not have to rely on a consumer purchasing it to see his add. It is just given away.

Maybe it gives the advertisers influence in the sense that if they are the one financing the magazine (by paying for the add that is going in them), they might be able to influence where these free magazines are distributed.

does that make sense?

It means free - like when a magazine gives you a complimentary copy (spelled differently). Usually magazines will give out free copies so that prospective buyers can sample it and be enticed to buy future copies in the future.
