So I plan on revamping my car's stereo system. Last year I had an Alpine MRP-M500 amp installed and coupled it with a Kenwood 12" KFC-W3012 400W RMS subwoofer in a sealed inclosure...In about a month i plan on getting a 12" Alpine type R (just one) and putting it in a ported box, along with 4 new speakers for the interior of my car. Do you think this will be a noticeably better upgrade in terms of bass quality and volume? I do not plan on getting another amp, as I am very happy with the amp I have had for the past year.
listen to mostly indie rock, and i have a sealed enclosure now and I feel like the bass needs to be louder and more boomy but its not...should i put the R in a sealed box or ported?
Also, I keep hearing people say that a sealed enclosure gives you the deep, tight bass, whereas a ported really just makes it louder...what if I want both?
