Question about the use of ringtones through a micro sd card on an LG Neon phone?

I just bought an LG Neon phone model at Wal Mart, along with a micro sd card so I could put my own ringtones on it (I've made some music of my own that I'd like to start releasing through bluetooth). So far, I've been able to transfer about 11 songs and 6 pictures from my computer over to the card, and I've copied them into my phone's memory (with one of the pictures ending up as my background). I was able to find all my shortened Mp3s (I made preview mixes of some of my select songs through my recording program) in my Audio folder, and in the music player, but when I went to change the ringtones in the settings menu, it only showed the default mp3s on the phone in the ringtone list. I went back and moved every song into a new folder (named "Ringtones"), and then went into the ringtone settings, where it showed the info for the folder (11 songs), and it even let me into the folder, but when it opened, I wasn't able to find any of my songs. Is there a reason for this, or is there something I can do to fix this? I would hate to have spent all that money and now not be able to even use the phone for what I bought it for.
