Question about Kicker speakers and amps?

I own a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon GS w/ factory 4-speaker system (not Infinity system). And I hate it. I've been wanting to put an aftermarket system in it for a while now, but I just can't figure out what I'd need to make it sound the best possible, and hit hard.

Well my car is a hatchback, and I would like to put either a single Kicker 10" L5 Subwoofer or a 12" L7 Solo-Baric Sub in the back.
But I read online that with some Kicker products (like the KS 6 X 9" speakers) I might not need a subwoofer, and that if I replace the 2 front door speakers with Kickers and the rear speakers with 2 6 X 9", that it would "hit" pretty good.
Because I don't really want my car to be rattling all the time if I had a sub in the back. And I don't want to spend an extra $130 on Dynamat.

So my question is, should I buy 4 speakers plus a 10" Kicker sub?
Or just the 4 speakers?
Either way, with or without the sub, would I have to buy an amp?
What size?

Thank You ALL for your help!
