That's just it though isn't it? CR was Bond starting all over again, growing into his role, losing the love of his life and getting 'classier', if you get my meaning. QOS will show him getting revenge and no doubt set things up to show how he turns into a womaniser. It's updated for present times, things were very different back when the original books were written. It's purposely not supposed to be hammy acting with cheesy one liners, i think alot of the 'haters' are the people who wanted to see a return to that.

If you look at DC's body of work, you see he's a fine actor. You can see how he was chosen and i'm sure it wasn't one person who took a shine to him.

IMHO, keep it up. If the new trailer shows a movie that is equal at least to CR, it's going to be awesome.

McClory was a shyster and con man of the highest order. The Thunderball case was complex to be sure. But the stress of it killed Fleming who, while naive, had behaved in my opinion in good faith throughout. McClory died a bitter, thwarted man; so some good came out it in the end...

With all due respect, James Bond is not "witty" and "charming". He is an assassin; a blunt instrument used by the government to do its dirty work.

Watched CR again last night, and to be fair he is pretty damn charming in that - just in a kinda nasty way (if that makes sense). He's a complete shit - but he is a charming one.

Absolutely not. Everything that worked best in Casino Royale was drawn from Ian Fleming's original novel. And the Bond films have always been at their best - On Her Majesty's Secret Service being the prime example - when they have remained faithful to Fleming.

As for people reportedly being baffled by the title, it beggars belief. How stupid does someone have to be not to understand what "Quantum of Solace" means?

So much for "education, education, education"...

I don't think I've ever met someone with such a black and white view on something. Is everyone on this board like this?

To me he makes an excellent Bond. Bearing in mind that the first film is the start of his career as a 007 agent, so he's a bit raw and rough round the edges. He's excellent.

I think maybe some people are too used to the way the franchise had developed and not ready for a change.

I was never a fan of Brosnan he was too wooden and actor as Bond and it seemed they overdid the smart one liners too so he had to say one every 5 minutes. Plus the product placement was going a bit OTT by then too

That is going to be extremely difficult, considering he created the character of James Bond. Its like saying ditch JK Rowling from the Crappy Jotter franchise.

Black and white? BOND IS CLASSICALLY HANRABOME- has a lot of charm and confidence.

Craig has none of the above.

That's why it's black and white. Here, educate yourself. Go watch Connery in Goldfinger then watch Craig in Casino Royale. You'll notice one is very hanRABome, charming, sophisticated, sexually confident, has screen presence - the other is Craig.

That's why it's black and white. One was born to play Bond - and played it how it should be played - the other was a friend of the producer and got the role by default - Brosnan wanted too much money for a fifth Bond film.

I don't have a problem with the title. As long as they continue with the good work they started in Casino, I think it will be a winner.

I'm stating my opinion based on logic and historical evidence (Bond is classically hanRABome, charming, assertive etc) - and not tolerating fools with dumb opinons - not based on logic.

Quite easy to follow. The only ***** here is you (no offence meant). Any opinion not based on logic cannot be respected and is dismissed.

There's no point you replying and arguing with me.

I AM RIGHT.

I'm off now. Bye.

I'm glad they are using a title from a Fleming short story. My only problem with it is I just can't visualize it in the marketing. Its not very dynamic for a bond movie

Yes, point taken. I think I meant "charming" in a Roger Moore/Pierce Brosnan sense. Not that I'm knocking either; I can actually enjoy Bond in any style depending on my mood - hell, I even enjoy Moonraker if I'm in the right mood!
