Quantum of Solace

I thought the inference there was that he was actually more lover than henchman.

Look at the way he skulked away jealously in the background whenever Greene spoke with Olga Kurylenko's character.
 
I went to see it today...you can tell its obviously the 2nd film in a 3 parter - the next one being called "Devil May Care" in 2009 ;)
I thought it was a very violent & dark film.
Reminded me of the Bourne Identity films :o
 
I'm gonna reserve judgement on Quantum of Solace till I get the DVD. I remember enjoying it while I was watching at the cinema and then looking back in hinRABight just not enjoying it as much as Casino Royale or in further comparison any of the first 20 films. I'm in a kind of James Bond vicious circle. :rolleyes:
 
Have just watched QofS and what a load of old pony it was. Almost unwatchable and seizure inducing due to the crack addicted, ADHD direction during the action scenes.

Total lack of a cohesive plot, half the dialogue was in Spanish. Terrible, just terrible.

I'm now going to get over the shock of what Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson have done to desecrate the Bond franchise by going to watch The Spy Who Loved Me. I might even indulge myself with the cheesy awfulness that is Moonraker.

Anything but Quantum of Solace. :( I found no solace in watching it at all.
 
Was not a bad film though CR was a little better. I never thought id say this but there was TOO much action, which was too fast so i didnt really understand what was goin on half the time. However Craig was great and Judi Dench was as brilliant as always :D 7-8/10
 
Oh dear - I really wanted to like this, but came away very diasppointed. They seemed to have overlooked the plot in favour of a lot of action sequences. With CR I really liked the fact that we were getting away from the silliness and back to a realistic Bond, but there was very little that was realistic about this.

The villian was rubbish and Bond seemed to have turned into a psycho - I know he was out for revenge after Vesper, but the way that he seemed to be killing everyone remotely connected with Quantum rather than trying to unravel the organisation and go after the big guns just seemed silly. Fleming's Bond wouldn't have been so stupid - or at least he would have got information out of them before disposing of them.

I warmed to the first Bond girl, after we had her motivation explained - that could have come earlier. The second one was, as already mentioned above, absolutely pointless, just someone for him to shag. Bringing Mathis back also just seemed a desparate way to link it to Casino Royale.

I do like the idea of the Quantum organisation, and I thought it started well, with the double crossing agent. Just poorly thought out after that. Some very exciting action sequences though.

All in all - 6/10, must try harder. I expect better from Bond, this was almost back to Pierce Brosnan films (though sadly not Goldeneye) :(

You don't like Craig as Bond fair enough! I suggest you get over it and wait for the next guy! The producers can't please everybody!

To add my two penneth I went to see the Bond film last night. I'd avoided all references to it in the printed media and on the internet etc so I could watch it with an open mind.

I am something of a Bond geek having all the films on DVD and a lot of original memorobillia.
I have to say I was extremely disappointed with this film.

What makes a Bond Film different from the rest is the humour from Bond himself - the witty one liners etc. In Quantum of Solace there were none. In fact I counted just one occasion where Daniel Craig cracked a smile!

The action scenes were too frenetic and the camera too shaky whilst they were happening. I mean could anyone see what was happening during the hanging from the rope scenes?

The plot was disappointing too - where was the 'today London, tomorrow the world ha ha' bad guy villain?
The Bond films have stood out with their choice of villains, from Goldfinger and Odd Job right up to Gustav Graves in Die another day.
But who can remember the name of the villain in Q of S? Not a lot of you I should imagine.

Leaving the cinema there was a lot of disappointed chatter all around me so I was not alone in forming my opinion of this film.

I'm sure Barbara Broccolli will watch it and possibly form the same opinion of us reviewers in that Bond has to return to being a likeable rogue in order to reclaim the ethos of previous Bond films.
 
That is exactly how I felt, first of all I thought there was a problem with the cinema!

I didn't really like this film as it didn't seem to go anywhere.
 
Really enjoyed it, but I thought the editing wasn't great.

I kept up with it well enough, but it did feel that there were gaps in it, and a little bit of padding would have been useful. I felt that the individual stories of Mathis and Leiter where cut some what. And also (and I may have missed something) how did FielRAB know Bond was coming to Bolivia after MI6 stopped BonRAB carRAB and passports?

They should have written into the QoS film that 'M' was killed by the rogue agent. This would have lead on nicely to a solid idea for the next film.
 
Oh god, it was appalling! I had avoided hearing the song before I went as I like a surprise, and I was certainly surprised, just not in a good way. The graphics were pretty poor too, such a shame as CR was so well done with the playing card motif.
