Interesting "dislike" you've got there for Mr Craig.
Surely the new crop of Bond films are the best way to go? Less shmarmy unrealistic camp nonsense and more true to life. (ok maybe not true to life but more realistic). If Bond is just starting off (Casino Royale), why can't he develop his charm and glamour as he goes?
So Flemings first choice was Carey Grant, who was too expensive at the time followed by: David Niven, James Mason, Patrick McGoohan, Rex Harrison, Richard Burton and Stewart Granger. A mixed bag?
Quoting from Casino Royale: "It was a dark, clean-cut face, with a three-inch scar showing whitely down the sunburned skin of the right cheek . . . His features relapsed into a taciturn mask, ironical, brutal, and cold" - ambiguous maybe? I think Craig pulls it off rather well.
Do you know Daniel Craig? He certainly seems more sophisticated and refined than most actors to me.
