Quantum Leap

Pure Awsomeness

I am housebound at the moment and was channel surfing yesterday and found the 80s show Quantum Leap on ITV4. Even better it was the very first episode of Series 1 which I had never seen before.

I watched it again today and it is still as good as I remember it being. I thought I would post about it in case any fans hadn't heard it was being shown. And also to encourage anyone who hasn't seen it to give it a go.

For those following Quantum Leap, it's worth mentioning that SyFy HD are showing it at various times at the moment - in the original AR and in HD.

A fair few have been partly cropped to 14:9 from the original 1.33:1. Knowing my luck now that I've said that SyFy will start doing the same thing.

Saw every episode of sliders and Quantum leap. Sliders replaced most of the cast by the last series except for Rembrant "Crying man" Brown.:cry::cry::cry::cry:

Yes! The first three seasons were great then they changed producers and introduced the alien element and it quickly went downhill :(

I think it worked better than Quantum Leap as it was an ensemble cast

Exciting about the remake! Though after years of speculation I'm not holding my breath.

If Scott and Dean are able to do the series then that would be amazing.... old shmold!!!

If it is a true remake then I assume it would be all new characters... although I'd prefer the old team... if that's impossible I think a trad. remake could also be amazing, different possibilites etc. But a combination of Scott, Dean and a new generation would be ideal imo. I'd also love them to explore the origins of the evil leapers and other avenues but of course I'm sure there's some bastarRAB in TV land saying that everything would have to be totally new and have no reference to the old series 'cause it's a new audience bla bla bla

Scott Bakula said at Comic Con that a movie was in the works.

He didn't say anything concrete only that it was at the very early stages of development.

We'll probably see it in 2013 or so...

But still very exciting :)

It was until the last series when the main characters had gone.

I don't think the BBC showed the last series...if I remember rightly I caught it a few years later on Bravo.

Another series worth a viewing is "7 Days" which was similar to "Quantum Leap" except for the fact the main character could return home.

I might give Sliders and 7 Days a go then. I am looking for something entertaining.

I was just so pleased when I found Quantum Leap. :)

I think Quantum Leap has a *HUGE* silent fan base, mainly because of its rather strange premise. It's science fiction... but that is only a way of getting a really interesting stories. You can hate Science Fiction and still love Quantum Leap because of the drama in each episode.

Certainly I know my mum used to love it, and she is not a science fiction fan in the slightest.

No he never returned home. The final episode was rather surreal, as Sam ended up talking to 'god' who was supposedly responsible for his leaps. I'd like to see it again as it went over my head at the time!

Defo. true on the other hand the sci-fi aspect worked as a great hook for those of us who did love it. I'd love it when anything out of the ordinary would happen re. the mythology of the show and though the stories were the meat... I always looked out for any sprinkling that would go beyond them more into the other arc of the show... i.e. evil leapers, swapping places, new handlinks, als image being effected by radiowaves so as he looked like he was leaping, al getting replaced... those parts made the show even sweeter for me.
