One type of guest I definitely don't like is the `I am going to work in some stuff I know in an attempt to look clever, whilst not being even remotely funny' type, witness Jan Ravens the other week, terrible.
 
Yes, it tells you that in the book but if it doesn't grab you in the first few pages as something you want to read then it's probably not doing it's job.
 
That maybe so, but he's also one of the funniest/smartest guests around, which is why he's on panel shows all the time.

I like JV, but no, please, not on QI, he's a square peg in a round hole. I think they should widen the net of potential guests - a politician, scientist or artist here and there might work wonders.
 
You know what I've always wanted to see is a TRULY uncut version of QI or HIGNFY from the moment they start the filming until the end with every sidetrack, screw up etc intact it would be 90+ mintues of footage I'm guessing but it would still better TV than the other mindrot on offer (IMO)


I watch both with QI but I record/archive the XL version always since it began and since that version is only shown once and not repeated (well, not until a year later on Dave) No quick 2nd chance if I ***k up the recording.
 
I wouldn't say Vegas RUINED it, but I did think they allowed him to go on a bit too long. I like him, I like his act, but it's not necessarily what I watch QI for. Say they had him popping up on the news, or on a James Bond movie, or in the middle of Hamlet. Although I might think he was funny, and though some people might think he improved the experience, at the end of the day his particular style is not what I watch the news, Bond or Hamlet for. Likewise for QI.
 
Could have Paul Whitehouse dusting off Rowley Birkin QC, or teaming up with Charlie Higson as Ted and Ralph. Or Swiss Toni ("Appearing on QI is very much like making love to a beautiful woman!).

Brilliant episode last night and made up for the awful one prior. (Please never have Lee Mack and Bill Bailey on the show again.)

I thought Graham Norton did great for his first show too and nice to see Alan win again. :D
