Okay, this is really a lot simpler than you're making it. This assignment could be a lot of fun.
The "collective unconscious" is made up of all the archetypes that your culture has developed. An archetype is a concept that psychologist Carl Jung used to describe the ideas that a culture uses to think about morality, spirituality, and human behavior. These come out in the rituals, myths, and symbols that a culture uses.
Now, since your assignment is a brief powerpoint, you can safely pick a subset of archetypes, say, superheroes. Or types of characters in movies. Or fairy tale characters. Or WWE wrestlers. Think good and evil, rescuers and rescued. TYPES of people, not the people themselves.
Let's do fairy tale characters for example, because I think I did a paper like this in college. Archetypes: the evil witch, the good witch, the rescuing prince, the evil queen, the boy who never grows up, the faithful companion, the clever boy or girl. Symbols: black and ugliness for evil, white and beauty for good, red for love or life, green for envy. You get the picture. Make it fun, though. Just ask yourself, how do I know the good guy is the good guy, just by looking at him? What's something all _____s have in common?
Good luck!
