PS3 / XBOX 360 / WII - best for madden

jesus christs these last 3 posts are a mindfuck!

i was deadset on WII after Eric Happy Meals post

and then jcirill comes in with the 'all i play is madden too' factor and says he hates it

eric happy meal: do you play madden a lot
jcirill: are you fat/lazy etc? ie: is the swatting motion / throwing motion etc really that much of a burden

I like madden for the wii, the controls take a while to get used to, but it becomes second nature quickly (well for me anyway ).

and contrary to what some say, you dont have to swing wildly like a fuckin retard to control it

if you like traditional madden multiplayer games, go for either the xbox360 or ps3, whichever controller you like best.

the wii madden multiplayer games are most fun because of the specific minigames for multiplayer mode.

YAC mode is probably most fun mode ive played with 3 other friends. we played it for maybe a total of 4-5 hours a few nights ago.

Sorry for the confusion man. I'm kinda lazy/not fat but I was used to playing madden on PS2.

The motions in Wii do get to be a pain in the ass if you play alot of madden. It delays your reaction too since hitting a button is quicker than raising your arm. Fuck if I know what you will like though.

Just trying to give you the perspective of someone who isn't the kind of person who will play zelda for 80 hours but is a sports geek and a football fan.

I love OT but some I can see some of the guys who are more "gamers" thinking its cool to really move your arm to throw a pass but really it just slows down the gameplay that makes madden fun.

i have played both the PS3 and 360 versions. i prefer it on xbox, and i played it on PS2 for years before.

madden challenge uses PS2 though, so if you want to compete i would buy that (probably PS3 now).

QFT, the previous-gen consoles still have the best yearly sports games, and since Xbox would have slightly better graphics, it would be the best bet, with PS2 a close second.

after zelda madden was the only thing i played up until i got a ps3. (got a wii on launch and ps3 on christmas)

i like it alot more on wii because its not so much like playing a game as compared to how it is on other systems. and your reactions arent delayed, just your timing.

I bought it for the PS2 last year and it was really choking. It used to suck ass for xbox, but ever since they finally came to an agreement over online it's been better than the PS2.

Basically if you're playing with four players, you take turns playing as the QB, while the rest of you three play as cornerbacks.

The objective for the QB is to make as many TD's as possible (short catches turned into long runs are worth the most points, hence the YAC).

The objective for the CB's is to prevent the WR that they are specifically covering from making a catch/TD.

There is a default of 3 rounds with 5 plays per round for each player.

So player 1 would get 5 play to get as many TD's, yards as possible.

Then it would switch it up.

It gets pretty insane because on defense you get points for not allowing catches/TD's, so things get balanced out.

It's also great fun watching your receiver make your 3 buddies completely whiff on him, or your three buds are like trying to tackle you and they all get in each other's way.

----------------------------------------

As for the motions, passing never gets old.

The worst part of the motions is the catching (for both offense and defense) and the hit stick.

For catching, you have to throw BOTH arms into the air straight up for it to register. Doing this motion while trying to maintain your receiver/cornerbacks running motion with the analog stick can be tricky...BUT is very doable. It feels GREAT when you can have your buddy throw a bomb to you and your sprinting for it and make the overhead catch.

Hit stick sucks, plain and simple. You have to thrust both arms FORWARD for it to register. But if you're playing defense, generally you're running down (pulling the analog stick downwards). So when you pull the analog stick towards the runner, you have to thurst your arms out, which ALOT of the times, causes me to move the analog stick back out, causing me to miss the runner completely.

-----------------------------------------------------

To sum up, if you like traditional 1 on 1, competitive Madden games. Get the 360 or PS3 version.

If you want some crazy multiplayer (3-4 players), get the Wii. It attracts everyone who HASN'T played regular videogames ever.

Thanks for your imput man... on the real, your opinion was the one i was lookin for. i really only play video games when my friends are over, we are pre-gamin before the club etc.. gettin drunk, and someone challenges in madden. you know how madden goes. you win the game, your night can go great, you lose, who the fuck knows

When Wii is the only real choice. I'm no sports geek. I liked my Madden on Next gens, dont get me wrong, but Wii Madden is undeinably fun. Playing against someone is that much better

That's what I have, but I got stuck with a PS3 I can't sell...

Wii's the party machine, but 360/PS3 are obviously better suited for the traditional shooters/sports.

Might as well get both and have both bases covered
