I've got plenty of other HD content and I didn't say that I wasn't going to buy shit on blu-ray, I'm just going to be VERY selective about it. Dropping $30 on the likes of some of the movies out right now is just flat out retarded.
Again, I'm not talking about myself, I'm talking about your average consumer. There's only a small percentage of people in America right now who even have an HDTV, and look at how long it took us to finally drop VHS and adopt DVD.
America isn't exactly the quickest company to run out and adopt new tech. The average asshole on the street doesn't give a fuck about 1080p and 7.1 audio. The vast majority of them are tooling around on a 27" magnavox SDTV and listening through the speakers built into the TV.
By the time the majority of consumers in America finally have an HDTV, there most likely will be another format lurking around the corner that offers more than blu-ray and hd-dvd. And even if one of them manages to stick it out for the long term, it's going to be a LOOOONG time before we see the blu-ray/HD-DVD shelves outnumber the DVD shelves in stores.
