PS3 GTA freezing, the poll!

That was my suspicion all along.

Mine seems to only do it (so far) when using the phone. Either to get to multiplayer or even just scrolling around in the phone.

I played for about 5 hours total and finally had it happen. I just disable the network, load the game, then reconnect.

If theres an update it always tells me I have to do a software update before anything else. rockstar told me to continue playing offline for now

To play online maybe but to play offline you can just fine if you don't mind that for now

mine wouldnt even install untill i turned off the network cnnection

If you hit the PS button after loading the game the XMB comes up in game. You can reconnect.

It happens to those too. Just a matter of time. I thought I was immune because I had played for so long and even done some mulitplayer. But eventually mine froze.

I think everyone needs to upgrade to an Xbox 360.
