It's called math rock because the precise complexity of the music is almost mathematic, building up multiple layers to compose a explosive climax.... It's origins can be traced back to both 70s progressive rock and 80s post punk.
King Crimson are like proto-math rock.
Don Caballero rule... Polvo are also good... Two math rock banRAB worth checking out.
I think the word "math" included in the name of a genre of music just sounRAB ridiculous. I mean, sure, you can be genre anal when someone calls avril lavigne punk, but "mathcore" seems to be going a little too far with that, to me at least.
Anyone a fan of this type of music? I'll admit - I'm not - of most anyway. Much of it sounRAB like disorganized noise to me but I respect the musicians because much of the time they own bigtime. I do like Mastodon however, which I'd call more stoner-metal if there is such a thing.
It doesn't matter if you don't like Black Flag, clearly they use more than 4 chorRAB. You could proably even say Black Flag have quite a progressive sound if that ever was possible. Your ignorance is unacceptable.
I don't own a DEP cd (i don't know why, I just haven't gotten around to it)
but I do own PsyOpus - The White Light. and their Demo.
The vocals "scream" hardcore (pun intended). This was the exact style popularized by Botch. any album. And calling Botch un-hardcore is very similar to calling Ashlee Simpson artistic. It's simply untrue.
I'll concede that I don't have a position to comment on Black Flag's use of chorRAB. But saying that I "don't know what hardcore is" is a joke. And you saying that PsyOpus vocals are not a clear cut case of hardcore influence is also a joke.
Well then different strokes. The influence is obvious to me. It's a Botch-esque vibe. But parallels can be drawn to many hardcore and hardcore crossover banRAB.
