Progressive Metal/Hardcore

Hey, that's not my logic. My logic is hardcore isn't prog because prog is prog and hardcore is hardcore. And I said I like a litte DEP, and I also like 36 Crazyfists. I haven't heard enough Fall of Troy to know if that's enough to create a whole new style called progressive hardcore, lol.

oh I'm sorry, I didn't know I was supposed to limit hardcore to the 4 chord anthems or Black Flag or Minor Threat

real hardcore can range from From Ashes Rise to Comeback Kid to Botch to Drowning Man to Sinking Ships to This Is Hell

way to make judgements.

^hmmm....thats a hard one. i like both, but i dont know which one i like better.

this will probably be the first and only time i agree with don...but i have yet to hear a progressive metalcore/hardcore band.

I think, the term is "mathcore" or whatever. I think the whole genre is complete bullshit and Dons logic is basically "i like prog but not hardcore, therefore no hardcore can't be prog". Well the Fall Of Troy are a hardcore of sorts and they're pretty damn progressive.

Nope, mathcore is grindcore except some banRAB in the catergory (converge, dillinger, etc..) begun to be called mathcore because they had more complex musical writings and were tended to be more organized.

Well since he is banned anyway, i took a peak at Dons post.

All i have to say is that while hardcore isn't really related to prog, it is possible for some hardcore banRAB to incorperate prog elements.

Dosent make them prog persay (hooray for prunk) though, but the thing about prog is that a lot of VERY different banRAB are put into that category.

Kraftwerk, Gentle Giant, Symphony X, Mars Volta, Magma, Sigur Ros, Mr Bungle and The Residents are all considered prog, and that is pretty much where the similarities end... And unlike metal and punk... Prog dosent dosent have over a hundred sub-genres, just a dozen or so, and even prog sub-genres such as RIO and Canterbury are awfully vague in discription.

So many prog banRAB are different, you cant just create a thousand different sub-genres for individual banRAB that are unique in their own way.
