That's weird. Once you notify them that it's no longer in your possession then they have an obligation to deactivate it and remove it from your account. At the very least they must deactivate it so there's no way you should be on the hook for any ppv charges. If they use it for illegal purposes it doesn't effect you either but make sure you notify them that you have sold it.

If they're giving you the runaround you should speak to the business office and make it clear that you have done your part and notified them of the transfer.

On top of the maximum number of receivers, I have two 3100s and one 4100s "deactivated" in my closet. I also have four brand new in the box 3100s (onsale at $69.00 for the 3150 two pack & dish) which I bought at one of the Big Box stores via mail order in 2006 which have never been activated or "pre-authorized" via IRIS. They just sit there and collect dust, BUT if I ever need one I have them!

(I know...I have a sickness!!! lol)

At one point I had the Executive Office remove all the old systems (dead, in closet, etc). That saves a LOT of explaining to the %#@^ CSRs when I call in. My list was at 25 receivers at that time. They never removed any of the warranty replacements!!!!! Or the dead units not under warranty!

I wouldn't activate them... Bell has a nasty habit of charging a fee when you activate a "used" IRD. Better to tell them (IF they try and charge you a fee) that you bought them and are renovating a new HT room.

It seems to be hit and miss with the receiver fee... also if you sell them the buyer probably will get a one year warranty from when they activate the IRDs.

I have two 3100s that I bought in 2005 still in the box (one of the 3150 packages) from FS as "spares". They were onsale... at $69 for the package and I needed an LNB...was the quickest and cheapest way! I actually sold the dish for $50 so the LBN cost me $19 and I got two free IRDs. LOL.

Never activated and never charged any fee.

just my thoughts...

October 30, 2006

SQM awards excellence in customer and employee satisfaction for the call center industry. SQM benchmarked over 260 call centers for the period of October 1, 2005 - October 27, 2006. In each call center, SQM surveyed 200 - 400 customers within 1-3 days of their call to the call center to understand their satisfaction with their service experience. In addition, for each call center that participated in the employee benchmarking study, SQM surveyed 50 - 300 employees who work in their call center to understand their satisfaction working in their call center. Based on the call centers benchmarked, SQM recognizes the following Service Quality Award of Excellence Winners for 2006.

What does it change whether i'm a he or a she? Single mom or hapilly married? Does it change my ability to serve my customer? No.., And what does it change that i'm English, French, Spanish or even Chinese? Absolutely nothing...

I understand you frustration towards the policies of the compagny...you can throw itt all on me if you want. I'm not able to change compagny's policy, i'm just a senior CSR. You can bitch all that you want about my supposed "poor cutomer service", I coudn't care less. I know I get all my bonuses, well almost, since I don't get the AHT (average handle time) one. Why don't I get it? Because I spend too much time talking to the client. Before I hung up I want to make sure that the receiver is up and running. If not I want to make sure that client really know what to do next, or why the problem is.

If your installer were so good, we woudn't have that much calls...our volume of call would drop a good 25%. How many calls do we get a day asking when the tech will come, why he didn't show on time, or why he just didn't show up and never called.

I don't disagree with the importance of your job, whithout a good installation system will never work. Our jobs are just as important to the client on different levels.

it sounds like a lot of trouble to go through...I might call Bell again to see what they say. I just wish I knew about all this activation stuff before I bought this used receiver...ah well...
Thanks

I bought a receiver on a construction site 5 years ago from a guy named Jack the ironworker, I do not know anything else about him after the job finished I called to activate the receiver they asked for the name of the first owner I told them what I stated above, they said they could give me the name of the owner and I could call and get them to call Bell and release the receiver, I said if you ever give my name out to anyone for any reason I will involve my lawyer, if they want they can make that call and get a release that was up to them.I said if they did not want activate I could go to *choice they said they would activate but if the first owner wanted the receiver back they would involve me.
That was 5 years ago it was a 2700 and I have bought other models since but the $10 2700 is the only one I never had a problem with.

Yes, as discussed in other threads the system will know throught the location ID...

On PPV purchase the system just place the order, it doesn't do a hole validation. I've seen instances were receivers were used in 2 locations (home and cottage) an PPV orders went throught no problem. Unfortunatly, as they called me and told me that receivers wee used in different locations I had to deactivate the receivers at te other location.

I don't think that a different location ID blocks PPV purchase

I haven't been a subscriber to Expressvu for more than 10 months now. I had a setup for 1 hdtv & 1 regular tv. When I canceled, they asked me to return the hdtv receiver but left me with the hdtv dish and the regular tv receiver #4100. In an effort to tidy up all the stuff lying around my den, I'm going to put it up for sale on craiglist in Victoria, BC. Can someone tell me what price to ask for it? The dish has the mounting hardware & the wires right up to the entry into the house. The receiver includes the remote & manual. All of it is in pristine shape.

I am sure you know that the 3100's in the closet will all require new Smart Cards to be activated.

I am NOT sure if there will be a charge for these cards after the cut off date.

I can't find a list of tips here at DHC on how to completely zero out to factory status a BEV 9200 prior to my offering it for sale. Sorry if I missed that info somewhere.

What steps can/should I take, apart from obviously deleting everything I can via the user menu?

I have decided to sell one of my old BEV receivers, so I need to know what happens if I sell it with the newest card still in it? Do I need to notify BEV? Does this affect my account? Any other info or issues I should be aware of?

i think this is the most retarded policy from bell. i bought a used 2700 and 5100, the owners had already called bell to tell them they were selling them. i still got the run around. the receivers were deactivated for over a year, bell could see it. they still told me to contact the owners. it happened these original owners had since died! so i had to call the people who inherited these receivers to call bell, bell would not talk to them because they did not have authorization. i dont understand if 1) the receivers have no balance, account is fully paid 2) not reported stolen or have any flags on it 3) bell can tell when the receivers were last activated and it was over a year ago, 4) the original owners had called and deactivated their account.
whats the problem for someone to buy a used receiver.

This has been covered in threads in this forum. Cards that have been activated cannot be transfered to another as the receiver ID has been written to them and "married" to the card.

First generations cards will not be updated for free. Second generation will. The cost is $69 (or $100 - I forget) for a new card. Usually cheaper to buy a low end receiver. I'm not sure why you would be upset at this. You could have added them to your account long ago (as soon as you got them) and received free updated cards.

Please keep to the topic of buying and selling though. I think what you want is the retention deal which is covered in its own thread.
Thanks

You can also advertise it on www.kijiji.ca it's free!

Just call us to let us know you sold it, preferably with the name of the buyer

If you call to modify the programming or make a change it is always possible that they reactivate it...i'm not stupid, I know that if the receiver is disable they won't get programming!

why don't you sell it on the digital home buy and sell thread.

50 for each

Do you own the 4100? Or is it a rental? If it was a rental they should of took it back. You also can't sell it if it was a rental.

Note: This thread is for the discussion around buying and selling used receivers (and related items). It is not for diagnosing issues. Many off topic posts have been deleted. Please kepp it on topic. If you need help with an issue, look for an appropriate thread or start a new one. Thanks

When I sold my 6100 and 5100 on ebay to different people, I got a call for each receiver from Bell Expressvu confirming that I sold them.

I confirmed that I did sell them on Ebay, and I assume all went well for the other end as I always got positive feedback.

I have forwarded this statement to the Installation Co in Montreal for their comments......

You make sweeping statements yet have no facts to prove them.

I can show you my list of calls for Today, 266 calls in total, 177 had the wrong Equipment, 55 had incorrect address or Telephone details, 4 actually had the words "this call not required" or "this customer canceled" in the FWFM notes, 2 said "no line of sight need second opinion", 5 were marked as "AM" when FWFM comments said "Customer wants first call in the afternoon".

Based on todays normal garbage information from Express Vu, we actually had 23 calls with ALL information correct.! Not bad out of 266 calls eh.? Over 90% wrong.

And you have the nerve to say our Technicians cause you High Call Volumes.

Put your house in order before slagging off the Guys who keep you employed.
