So I installed an amp and subs in my car about a month ago. The deck is aftermarket as well, but has been in the car for a couple years.

Anyways ocassionaly when i start my car the pre sets for FM stations are for some reason reset to default. This typically only happens when the power supply to the deck (car battery) is diconnected. I checked the conections to the battery and they are all tight.

I'm wondering what could be causing this. I was thinking about reattaching the ground for the amp to a different spot on the car.

Its not that big of a deal just annoying to have to continually program my radio stations.

Let me know what you think, Thanks.

Well all of your presets would definitely be reset whenever you disconnect the battery from the car, every car will do that. As for it happening just out of the blue....Its not too common to have the amp causing the problem where your deck resets itself, but it is possible that when you are powering on/off the amp its not getting a good connection and its causing a small short in the wiring. However, the short would have to be so small that it wouldn't blow any of the fuses. I would check your ground wire on the deck itself, and also the ground wiring connection from the battery to the car, and if the problem persists then try grounding your amp to another spot.

hope this helps.

you have a bad connection somewhere...sometimes oxidation from high humidity can play a role too. or vibrations.

so just have to check all connections.

if connections are all good, then could be a manuf error in one or more of the installed items. can u take them apart to check for faults?
