Pride & Prejudice #5: You have bewitched me, body and soul...

I love Pride and Prejudice, I loved Matthew MacFadyen when he was in Spooks. He attracted me to the film. I bought the dvd the day it came out and went to see it the day it came out at the cinema. I'm a bit obsessed with it.

I've just watched the whole movie, in parts on youtube. It's a great adaption though the BBC's mini series from 1980 will always be my favorite.

My favorite character from this film must be Mr Collins. He was excellent and so funny.

I just love how beautiful the movie was filmed. The locations it was shot in and how they used the light.

That's so cool! I didn't know Emma Thompson wrote for the movie. I love that scene where Lizzy gets the news about Wickham and Liddy. Her aunt and uncle are there, but it seems like it's just her and Darcy in the room.

Okay, I admit it - I just watched this and I liked this version despite the fact the normally attractive Keira Knightly looked just plain odd in this film (and she has a pea head - something I've never noticed before).

What's so funny - the line of this thread, "You have bewitched me, body and soul," is the weakest line in the film, in my opinion, but the rest of that scene is phenomenal. McFayden did a wonderful job, but I'm not surprised by that (I wonder if he notices the similarity between KK's looks and those of his gorgeous, talented wife, Keeley Hawes?). Who knew someone other than Colin Firth could be a good Mr. Darcy? :P

I know that since this was a big-screen version they had to cut out a lot of parts, so what we end up with is all the best Elizabeth/Mr. Darcy scenes, essentially - this is not a bad thing!

that scene is amazing!!!

Before this movie came out, I had never read or seen any version of P&P...since I have seen both versions and read the book....but this film version is still my fav overall, I think Lizzie is strongest here...and I love that!! I Love when she tells Darcy " Dancing, even when one's partner is barely tolerable."

THe only thing I have to complain about is that I wish the movie were longer...that there was more to cherish! I still like to watch the DVD every 3 of 4 weeks....The casting was so perfect in this movie.

i watched the movie again last night. :sigh: mr.darcy walking in the mist...is just...:in_love: and i also love your conan icon...:D

It has been almost a year now since I first saw this movie and I still love it. I thought all the characters were well played and the rain scene is definitely one of my favorites. I'm still mesmerized by Mr. Macfadyen's skill at playing Darcy. This is perhaps my favorite movie that I've ever seen. :D

That's a very cool tradition!

My favorite scene from the movie is definitely the rain scene/first proposal. There's so much desperation in Darcy's voice and the way he just blurts out that he loves her is so sweet because he can't hold it in anymore. Then there's so much UST there after their big fight...:thud: :thud:

Hi, fellow P&P fans!

I made my first P&P music video for all of you to enjoy. :in_love:

Mr. Darcy - Yellow

Peace!

Pride & Prejudice was on HBO today! When turned on the tv it was at one of the best scenes (Mr. Collins proposing to Elizabeth!)

It's funny because last night I was listening to the soundtrack, I had a dream about it, and then it was on this morning. Now I want to read the book again.

Yeah I think I can kill 3 birds with one stone (since I'm also reading two other books.)

I have been on a kick with this movie lately - I have been watching it quite a bit :) I was reading on IMDB yesterday that Emma Thompson wrote two scenes for the movie - the scene where Charlotte tells Elizabeth she is engaged to Mr. Collins and when Elizabeth gets the news about Mr. Wickham and her younger sister. I thought that was interesting...

This is my fav movie of all time :sigh:

I'm too tired right now to gush about it though

I love how Matthew played Darcy, how he acted with his body and eyes. Don't get me wrong I love Colin version of Darcy.

But Matthew is my top Darcy for the interpretation he gave of Darcy. For example how after helping Lizzie into the carriage, he release his hand like a burst of electricity just shot through it.

How in both scenes that he purposes to her his eyes are filled with so many emotions, ever following and realistic. Like how after she rejects him and attacks him over Wickham, he defends himself and his anger against her is shown. How after she wounds him he shows hurt and rejection in his whole face, but he shows maturity and grace as he leaves her.
