OK when I was told I had to have a colonoscopy for anemia I freaked, but since talked myself down, plan to have it and a whole bunch of other tests etc. to make sure anemia is only being caused by heavy menstruation.

But of course, since the GI doctor concurred earlier this week that I should be cautious and have the colonoscopy, I am now getting intestinal gas and mild abdominal pain. I am 99 percent sure it's nerves, as I had NO symptoms before this, but waiting for the scope for two more weeks (6/9) is going to drive me nuts and now I think I've given myself a spastic colon out of fear.

I am trying to relax and stop reading too many Web sites, or next I'll probably think I have swine flu. (I am not generally a hypochondriac but I thinking Googling anemia too much is turning me into one :)

Thanks for listening!

newinnj--Yes, you are right. When you are in the middle of something as you are, you should stay away from the internet searches, and just forget about it until the tests are complete. I know it's easier said than done, but it does help a great deal. I have had to do this in the past and it helps with anxiety over your issues. I'm sure that you will have a clean scope regardless. Take care. FLFG :)

Wow i think it is fantastic your doctor is doing all the extra tests needed, i wish they would do that here.

You can then tick other causes off the list, and know it is down to heavy bleeding, all the best x take care x
