Post your Linpack Score

On paper, the Droid, Droid 2, and Droid X all use the PowerVR SGX530 GPU, and the Galaxy S phones all use the PowerVR SGX540, which has (according to the manufacturer) 2x the sustained performance compared to the previous SGX530 GPU core. So, the Samsung Galaxy S phones have 2x the graphics capability.

Some other benchmark I've collected shows in relation to the SGS versus the Droid X:

Neocore shows the SGS is 30% faster.
GLBenchmark Pro 1.1 shows the SGS is 80% faster.
GLBenchmark HD 1.1 shows the Droid X is 20% faster.
Nanamark shows the SGS is 70% faster.

Both of the GLBenchmark 2.0 tests (with and without FSAA) show the SGS is around 250% faster.

Both of the GLBenchmark Pro tests (with and without FSAA) show the SGS is around 280% faster.

In terms of CPU speed the SGS is also considerably faster. So why is Quadrant showing the Droid X as being so much faster? Well, one of the tests Quadrant does is an IO Test. The SGS tops the Droid X in all benchmarks, apart from the I/O test in Quadrant, where the Droid X is an incredible 350% faster, and this is accurate.

There is a known bug (called the ext4 lag bug) on the SGS which nerfs its IO. You can see more information on this in the following link. Check out post number #194 where someone has installed a firmware on the SGS (according to the text, yet the pics say HTC Hero?) with the ext4 lag fix in place and shown his Quadrant scores side by side for a before and after picture. The fix more than doubles the SGS's quadrant score, and that's before ForYo.

Numbers and benchmarks can be misleading. From what I've see in real world testing, where numbers and benchmarks mean nothing, the DX is the best in overall speed! And nothing beats the Samsung on graphics processing! Period. I'm just keeping it real! But you be the judge.

Yeah its definitely a little smoother. I believe its touchwiz thats smoother than the stupid Motoblur thats "not Motoblur"! I wish they just gave the DX vanilla Android 2.2. Because when you add a new launcher, or even Ahome, it becomes smooth as butter. I'll know for sure when the Fascinate drops in a week or so. I'm going to pick 1 up for myself. I completely understand it may be faster on paper and benchmarks though. Not disputing that at all. But so far on the comparison videos I've seen, it doesn't translate into more speed. I haven't seen the DX get beat out yet.

You can share this firmware / kernel / mod, you can get the best score with a team? In my experience, and without the JIT execution score is about 3.10 samdroid.

The Nexus S might be slightly faster due to the optimizations in Android 2.3 over 2.1/2.2/2.2.1 that currently all non-rooted SGSs use.

Blah lol, its mainly faster because Google uses data to ext4 off the built-in fast nand flash storage but the Galaxy S line can get close to those scores but not that high stable.

The Galaxy S phones have had a good run. They've been the top dog for around 8 months now, which is very good going in the IT world. Bring on the 1.5GHz Dual Core nVidia chipset phones
