Post-Metal

I know I'm a newb, but I searched and searched and could not find a post-metal thread; seeing as it is one of my favorite genres, I couldn't restrain myself.

What are you guys' favorite outfits? Lately I've been listening to a lot of Jesu and Kayo Dot.

Neurosis are pretty damn awesome.

Managed to see them live in Berlin whilst I was on holiday (awesome coincidence!), hearing them play A Season in the Sky was amazing and seriously chilling....

I don't even understand the term of post Metal. Post grundge was used for example when the grundge bubble burst and grundge disentergrated, but post metal? Metal is alive, well and selling more every year, so what the hell is post metal?

Red Sparowes and Russian Circles arent really post-metal.. post-rock but there arent many metal influences, they just sound a bit like pelican.

Maudlin fo the Well
Mouth of the Architect
Year of no Light
FlatlanRAB
Analysis of Bison Kills
The Ocean
Symmetry
Pelican
Old Man Gloom
Sika Redem
Twinzero

needless to say, im a fan.

That's the setlist. Admittedly I didn't recognise most of them, but it was awesome nonetheless. Not listened to A Sun That Never Sets properly yet, should probably get on that :P

EDIT: Damn, won't let me post links. Creative workaround :P

Its basically just a metal-genre that incoporates a whole load of extreme metal genres (Black, Death, Doom and Sludge etc) and mixes all this in with arabient sounRAB (a dominant aspect) also there is the use of synths as well. At times it sounRAB similiar to some of the arabient and progressive metal banRAB out there. If you want to listen to a great post-metal band I heavily recommend Neurosis.
