Popular cartoons you never got into

well,I like it. I've been a fan since day one,and I always will be. possibly the only non-cancelled show on cartoon network nowadays.

anywho,here's my 2 cents:

naruto-after reading the manga in shonen jump,I would give the show a try. as much as I wanted to,I couldn't get in it.

histeria!-my brother loved this show and tried to get me to,but sadly,I couldn't. it was a little too random for me. plus the cast was totally random, a big baby,an obnoxiously loud kid,a girl who mistakes historical figures for modern day celebrities,it was pretty much "meh".

daria-being a character on beavis and butthead, her show was kinda boring for me.

avatar-it's one of those shows that you have to watch the whole series to see what's going on. I hate those with a passion.

that's all from me.

Not necessarily "popular cartoons you hate" because there's already plenty of those here. What popular cartoons just never interested you?

For Me:
X-Men: Really, I blame elementary school bullies for this one. Picking on me for liking power rangers and going on about how much better X-Men was. They were probably right, in retrospect, but that abuse kept me from ever watching it. To this day I just can't get into it.
The Simpsons: My mum had a "no watching the Simpsons" rule imposed on the house. As such, I never had the chance to watch it through most of my life. When I did get the chance, I had already been exposed to other more adult-oriented cartoons, so it felt kinda "meh" in comparison.

I never got into Max Steel.

Seriously, even as a kid, I felt it was the worst show on television. But every kid I knew absolutely loved it, and when I took a trip down to NYC around that time, there was a GIGANTIC banner advertising Max Steel toys hanging on the side of a Toys-R-Us there.

Family Guy- It's simply a rip-off of the Simpsons, it's full of cut aways, 80's references and innuendo, there is very little focus on the plot, the animation is bland and expressionless, the voice acting sucks. It's humor is only appealling to frat boys and pre-teens.

Teen Titans- It's anime-influenced crap, the character designs are horrible, the anime expressions are irritating, the villains are absolute jokes and the stories are full of fluff and bad writing.

Kim Possible- Even though it has fluid animation, the stories are full of cliche's, terrible dialogue, and bland humor. I never found that show to be funny or entertaining.

Agreed. For most shows I can't get into, my reaction is one of indifference, not white-hot hate. But that's just me; I'm not a man of extremes. I don't either love something or hate something, with no inbetweens. I can usually find the good even in shows I would normally dislike.

Oh yeah, that reminds me....:D

I also don't like Bo^7 mostly because it's not really that funny.... it's just weird not in a funny way either. I've seen about.... 5 or 6 episodes of that, never liked any of the characters. The plot was lame, although I'm pretty sure bo^7 isn't known for having good plots (could be wrong). But yeah, not my taste of comedy. I'd give it a 1/10, it's just a show that I MIGHT watch for about 2 mins or so every month or two....:p

Zatch Bell...... UGH...... I don't like a show about dolls dueling for you. They are creepy little puppets fighting eachother from what I've gathered in my short stint of viewing this crap. One of the most annoying things is having Jimmy Neutron as Zatch Bell. BRAIN BLAST.... no. It's just a boring show, and I could not STAND the first 2 episodes, so I just stopped watching. I'd give it a perfect 0/10 DONE!

I personally can take it or leave it. Not horribly bad, but not good either. I can watch it in small doses. But this isn't about hate.

Possibly because a lot of today's cartoons are even more formulaic?
I kid, of course. But I used to not like this show because of its overexposure not too long ago, and this weekend's marathon had me loving the show because I had not seen it in so very long. Weird.

Thank you.

And it comes to mind, looking through this thread, that I really didn't get into old Nicktoons when I was young. They were either gross (Ren and Stimpy, Ahh Real Monsters) or boring (Doug, Hey Arnold). I just watched them when something worse was on Cartoon Network (like Scooby Doo). But, again, due to a lack of variety in current programming and good old nostalgia, whenever I get the chance to watch one now actually I enjoy it.

I posted from time to time that I never really liked The Angry Beavers, but I couldn't stnad Beast Wars because it took these awesome robots I loved into some lame animals, and I refused to watch it, and still dislike it today.

I never really got into "AAAA! Real Monsters". It was alright but I didn't like it nearly as much as I liked the other shows on Nick at the time.

O/T: First post. hoo-rah.

South Park - occasionally I've enjoyed episodes of this programme, but I've never felt compelled to get into it.

Ren and Stimpy - I can appreciate it for what it is, but it's never been my kind of humour.

American Dad - I loved Family Guy at the beginning, but over the years my interest waned; these days, I can take it or leave it. Since I've seen that this is basically the same thing with different (and probably less funny) characters, I have zero interest.

X-men/Spiderman - didn't watch because I had no love for the comics they were based on. From time to time I'd look at an episode, but since I didn't follow the continuity my interest was limited.

Transformers - a decent cartoon by any standard, but I never much liked robots as a kid; this was really more my older brothers' show.

Boondocks - don't know if this really qualifies as a "popular" show on level with the others; I can see there's quality in this show but I haven't felt compelled to watch more than two or three episodes, because I dislike hip-hop culture and slang, and that puts me off.

Rugrats- I never got the obsession with this show. A lot of people, including my own friends and relatives, loved it, but the characters, cheesy humor, repetitious plots, grating music and the endless string of mispronounced words from the babies just got on my nerves.

Hey, Arnold!- one of the most boring and generic Nicktoons ever made, IMHO, yet it had a loyal following and a lot of fans, not including myself of course.

Scooby-Doo- a marginal at best show that caught on and became huge for some reason.

The Boondocks- I honestly tried to give this show a chance since everyone I know raves about it, I watched the entire first season, but I just can't get into it. It's too over-the-top for me; I find the endless coarse language and violence to be gratuitous. Plus, I'm not into a whole lot of political, social and racial humor to start with, and I've never been a fan of the "buck-wild urban black people shake up the lives of stuffy square white people" premise; it's not a flattering stereotype for either culture, IMHO. That's also why I never liked movies like Soul Plane and Who's Your Caddy?

Oh yeah, and another few just came to my mind that I've NEVER liked.

Code Lyoko..... I think it's a French cartoon, and truthfully.... it doesn't make France look good. The show is incredibly boring, as are the characters. The cartoon version is in a pretty dark setting about 20%-50% of the time, and the character design of giant balloon heads is just far too annoying to interest me in the slightest bit. I'd definitely give this show a 0/10.

ANY Disney cartoon. They are ALL horrible. Lilo and Stitch, the movie was horrible, and they followed up with an even WORSE SHOW. Disney's Doug wasn't entertaining in the least. They've butchered the Lion King with Timon and Pumba. At least Disney SEEMS to realize they have bad shows now, since all of the cartoons are from 12:00 a.m-5:30 a.m. So I give Disney SOME credit, the shows.... I give none to though.

King of The Hill: I never got into it, SOME people say that it's pretty funny. I don't like thier art style, and their comedy.... I can't quite seem to find. Maybe I'm still confused by their annoying accents...?

So the list is:

Zatch bell (0/10)
Bo^7 (1/10)
Avatar (3/10)
Boondocks (0/10)
Inuyasha (5/10)
Grim adventures (1/10)
Drawn Together (0/10)
Later Episodes of Simpsons (4/10)
Code Lyoko 0/10)
ALL Disney Cartoons (0/10)
King of the Hill (0/10)

The world can go on without these. LOL All of the reasons are in previous posts of mine in this thread.

The only one I've ever actively disliked (but most of the planet Earth disagrees with me on): Family Guy.

I'm sorry but random pop culture and merciless torment of a child isn't funny.

Yeah, good call, I'm starting to sound like some of the people in the anime section of this message board. Some of the people there tend to be more hateful than the other sections, and no one chastices some of them for it...which is....odd.

South Park: Kids were enjoying this cartoon since they were in elementary school. I never found the show appealing, and the animation doesn't help.

Well, you ARE being mean. To say you dislike them is fine, but to call them worthless and go on a long tirade about the creators being idiots is way too far.

Drawn Together made me laugh constantly, and NONE of the jokes I enjoyed were sexual or scatological - what does that say? There was far more to it than the low-brow.

Billy and Mandy is good depending on the episode with nearly half of them being completely dull, but overall I enjoy the monsters, obscure references, occasional "nonsense" joke done right and those precious moments where the show is ACTUALLY "grim". It was looking bad in the first season, where plots were lifted from old sitcoms and no actual death was even shown, but I'm glad Cartoon Network kept giving them more leeway to get creepy and gruesome at times. Children need this sort of thing, what with Beetlejuice and the Adams Family being long gone.

Am I the only one who CANNOT "hate" a work of entertainment? If it's somebody's art, it has merit. I have never been able to find any exception to this. There are things that fail to interest me in the slightest, but there is no show or film on the face of the Earth where I can honestly say "I do not understand how anyone enjoys this".

Frankly, I find many posts in this thread babyish and petty. It's not even supposed to be a thread about shows you "hate". It's shows you "never got into". Yes, there is a difference.

As for the shows themselves, I'm surprised you're getting so upset about someone ranting about them. Have you really actually paid attention to the nature of some of the jokes in those shows. Here someone is criticizing me for being mean in my rant, and yet, if one actually sits down to watch most of those episodes, the jokes in them are INCREDIBLY mean spirited. That just strikes me as a bit contradictory. They dish incredibly high amounts of negativity and meanness out to the industry in their style of humor, and yet their fans can't seem to take it when people are mean to the shows, yet here the shows are taking cheap pot shots at all kinds of people and things in the industry? Odd. VERY odd.
