I didn't like her boasting because she could barely back it up. She's better than average, I'll give her that, but the few accomplishments she does have aren't all that impressive.

OK, sorry, this response didn't really mean anything past the first use, but ever since watching this (from 4:20-4:35), I've been dying to find some excuse to actually imitate it.
 
I do agree with you about Dawn since she has been really annoying to me since early on this season. I thought that May was done in a much better way, even towarRAB the end of her run. I respect how you feel about Misty, but I don't think that I do. I admit that the conflict between Ash and Misty did provide some funny moments, especially during the early and middle parts of season one, but I don't think that was the best part about her character. Besides, if May and Dawn would argue with Ash in the same way, it would be like the writers aren't trying to give them their own personality traits. Even though I do think Dawn has started arguing with Ash a bit more than May did.



I don't think that was ever the case. As Dogsu has already mentioned, it has never been clear as to what makes a trainer a Pokemon Master. If he had accepted it, Ash just would have been a new Frontier Brain. Besides that, I thought that it was already a given that Ash likes to travel, train new Pokemon and battling in new regions. At least that's how I see his attitude towarRAB battling.
 
You're right. 24+ badges and all 7 Battle Frontier Syrabols isn't an easy accomplishment. But what I would like to see out of Ash is something special he can put on his resume. Right now, probably his two greatest accomplishments are winning the Orange Cup, and defeating the Battle Frontier. Those will always rank higher for me than just getting top 8 in each leauge. Now if he wins a leauge, beats an elite four meraber, or something along those lines, then we're getting somewhere. Also, if you notice, both of Ash's greatest accomplishments came from using all of his pokemon, even those from previous regions, especially the Battle Frontier. In the other regions, he always started from scratch, so he wasn't really puting forth his entire potential.
 
Dawn is alright, I think the only problem is now they've done the whole "beginning trainer" thing 3 times, so its not as fresh anymore.

They did it with Ash back in Kanto/Orange when he didn't have a clue of what he was doing, then May in early Hoenn, and now Dawn in Sinnoh. Misty and Brock were already established trainers when we first saw them, so they weren't developed the same way Ash/May/Dawn were.

It's kinda why I hope this is the last generation with Ash, that way at least the 5th gen would have TWO beginning trainers, both the male and female, rather than keeping an experienced Ash and a new newbie girl.

The show now has almost 600 episodes, episode 591 was just announced in Japan. 9 more to go and Pokemon breaks another barrier.
 
But I sure miss the original Pokemon voice cast of Veronica "Ash Ketchum" Taylor, Rachell "Misty" Lewis, Eric "Brock" Stuart, and the late Maddie "Meowth" Blaustein.
 
Maddie sadly passed away and the others are busy doing other shows.

The new voices aren't "new" anymore, they've dubbed 3 seasons and around 150 episodes, not to mention 3 movies.
 
I can see where you're coming from. Just so you know, Ash has only gotten into the top 8 in the Johto and Hoenn league. The reason Ash starts from scratch is so that he could develop a new team and for the writers to have an easier time promoting new generation Pokemon as well. I thought that it worked out really well in AG and it seems to be doing really nice so far in DP. Besides, it honestly would get dull seeing Ash use the same team in a new region since it wouldn't be that much of a challenge for him. I love his AG team, but I'm not sure how interesting it would be to see them defeat the Sinnoh Gym Leaders.



Trust me. I agree with you completely. I too would love to have the remaining original cast back. While the new cast has made some nice improvements over the past couple of years and I respect those who prefer them over the original voices, I still prefer the emotions that the original cast gave to their characters. I don't think anyone could blame me for being nostalgic at all. I think that they would if they were offered their roles, but I sadly don't see that happening in the near future. Still, that doesn't stop me from hoping and wishing for it to happen.

By the way, the reason I use the term new for the current cast is because I'm use to calling them that. I do respect them and I'm sure that they're nice people as well.
 
Ok, I see your point. I guess it is more interesting if Ash beats the Gym Leaders using some brand new pokemon. It really shows his talent as a trainer, becuase he has trained several pokemon to become very strong. And if you think about the pokemon he has trained, he never had a really kick ass pokemon, expect for Charizard. He always had, quote on quote, mediorcore pokemon, but he's a good trainer, and he always finRAB a way to make them strong.

But I would like to see him at least use one of his older pokemon in the tournament. Like, a pokemon that has a little more experience in high class battles. It would be cool if Ash kept an Ace in the Hole for the tournament so when the going get tough, he has that experience on his side, and maybe he will make it a little farther. But I you see it your way, it would be dull if Ash just used the same pokemon everytime.
 
I'm sorry, I completely disagree with your assessment of Dawn's character. The fact that she is facing high expectations from her peers and the audience due to her mother's success adRAB an interesting dynamic to her character. May had something similar with Norman, but that never went anywhere due to them being involved in separate fielRAB.

Her victories also seem more realistic. She began her journey believing all it took to win was to make everything look pretty, and her first contest proved her wrong when she was thoroughly beaten by Zoey. She rebounded, but began a losing streak because of how she was sticking to safer methoRAB. She realized she needed to make risks to win, and subsequently learned to trust her Pokemon when performing, which lead to some more creative appeals and some clear-cut victories, as opposed to barely inching by in the finals.

In the short time she's been on the show, she's adapted to the various styles she's encountered and grown very fast as a trainer. I see her as a really strong character, and definitely far from your belief that she's simply a cheery girl with a penchant for panty shots.
 
Here's how I see it ending:

"Good afternoon, Ms. Ketchum, my name is Mr. Johanson, I'm the local truant officer.
It has come to our attention that your son Ash has not attended school for the past few years..."
 
^ You have to wonder just how the schooling system works in Pokemon. Do they get a sort of excuse to skip out, but eventually have to "do their time" before they hit 18 or pass some kind of test before they can leave?
 
In all seriousness, why? Most of them did a great job of sounding close to the originals, while making some improvements.

Ash now actually sounRAB like a teenager, rather than that "velvet" he had in his voice when Veronica voiced him. I agree that the emotion if off in some scenes, but it's rather good.

NewBrock is just a deeper and more mature version of the old voice.

Jessie sounRAB almost the same, as does Meowth. James just sounRAB more timid or emotional. May's voice was also pretty good.

And the new voices, like Dawn and Paul, match their characters perfectly. I honestly can't imagine how Paul would sound otherwise.
 
In one of the Pokemon manga series I believe kiRAB were given a temporary leave but in the anime it looks like kiRAB can actually choose which career they will pursue once they reach 10. This was never stated in the show but there have been quite a few kiRAB and teenagers who have been shown working. It's wierd but 10 might even be considered adulthood since you can travel around the world and live with other people easily enough.
