Pokemon- when will it end?

Personally, I'm tired of Satoshi as it were. He's static, not pleasently mature and even without edge. The story doesn't go deep enough into the darkness to actually explore the realities behind what clanRABtein organizations would do with super-powered animals and there's nobody in the main group with a wiser and more detailed perception of the dark ways of the world to bounce off of any 'youthful idealist'.


In short, there's no real conflict to speak of and it's only gotten somewhat unsettled by the arrival of Shinji.

I would have rathered both Misty and Brock leave at the end of Johto, and for each new region they'd bring in a new girl and a new male sidekick.

They got it half-right by bringing in a new girl, but keeping Brock as long as they have is pretty lame. It's just a shame Tracey borabed as a character, its probably the main reason Brock is still here, even though he's become so stale.

And Misty leaving has always been overblown. The reason why that character never did return to the show, even after all these years, is because people exaggerate her popularity. Entire new generations of kiRAB have grown up with the newer episodes, and these kiRAB don't care or even know about Misty, which is exactly why even her cameos have dwindled to almost nothing over the years.

And I agree with the people who want to see Ash's journey end. I'm hoping the DP series is Ash's last arc (or the filler arc that comes after), and I really want a clean slate for Gen 5. I get the feeling they're building to a climax this saga, so we'll see.
 
Nope. The video games still sell like hot cakes. I'm not sure how Platinum did in the US, but it sold like a million units in two or three days. If that doesn't say that kiRAB are still interested in Pokemon, then I don't know what does. Besides, I've heard that the series still does well in Japan, or least it wouldn't have gotten twelve movies. With the way that I see it, as long as the video games sell well enough, the series will continue since it's main purpose is to promote the video games.

While I can understand why people would want Ash's journey to be concluded, I just can't see that happening at all. After having the same main character for over ten years, it just feels like too much of a risk to replace him now. Ash is part of their formula for success, the other half being Pikachu with a dash of Team Rocket, and I just don't think that they're going to get rid of that formula anytime soon either.

No offense to anyone else, but I also was never a big Misty fan. Sure, she's a nice character and all, but I never thought that she was that active during her role as a main traveling character. After seeing characters like May, one of my favorite characters in the series, or even someone like Dawn, Misty wasn't really that active in her battling. In all honesty, I'd pick Brock over her since I could often at least laugh at his behavior towarRAB girls, up until Misty dragged him away at least.
 
And none of them are being broadcast on any channel I get. Hmmmmm ...

Anyway, yes, I'm sure they do. However, that's not an attraction for every viewer. I just want to watch a show that's fun, not deep or dark and moody and angsty or whatever.
 
That might bring you back for six hundred episodes, but not everyone. I was dispassionately listing off reasons as to what the show is missing out on exploring with the subject of super powered animals. The shows I listed off are hardly deep or moody, but do know not to keep the rainbow meter turned on to max all of the time.
 
Except they actually gave Misty some character development. Afterall, she actually amounted to something... unlike Ash. Misty is a Gym Leader now. Ash? Well he's still running around collecting badges.
 
Well, in Advanced Ash became more mature and stopped acting like a little kid so much.............but they went back to inmature Ash in Sinnoh.
 
While I can understand where you're coming from, I wouldn't just dismiss Ash's accomplishments like that. Sure, he isn't a Gym Leader like Misty is, but I thought that it was made clear with how Ash enjoys traveling, collecting more Pokemon and entering new leagues. I can't see Ash doing that staying in one place for a long time. Besides that, collecting badges has given Ash plenty of powerful Pokemon, some impressive rankings in different leagues, mainly the Johto and Hoenn Leagues, and he did defeat the Battle Frontier and was offered a position there as well.
 
Active battling does not an interesting character make. Case in point: Dawn. What else is there to her but a stereotypical sunny disposition and lots of gratiutious fanservice? Sure, Dawn may be more active in battling than Misty, but that doesn't change that she's very weakly-written (then again, who isn't? Even May lost her luster toward the end of her run.)

IMHO, Misty in her prime (before Johto) was the best main female, if only because there was actual conflict between her and Ash, as opposed to May and Dawn, who happily get along with the boring twit without any difficulty.



Which he turned down, even though accepting it would mean that he'd be a Pokemon Master. Anyone remeraber when that used to be the set goal of the series? Y'know, before it got lost among the aimless wandering and filler?
 
I personally think that next season he neeRAB to turn into a pre-adult or adult..or just get rid of him and introduce a new main character somehow.

"aw, I only made it to the preprepre quarterfinals, oh well, another 100 episodes with new pokemon/frienRAB here we go!"

No it wouldn't.

In fact, the anime never has defined what a Pokemon Master actually *is*. You and I can have our own opinions about the matter, but there is no set, "official" definition of the term.

It's just a vague term used to make it seem like Satoshi knows what he's doing.
 
That's what I didn't like about Misty. She got on Ash's case way too much over the littlest of things. She also liked to boast and thought she was a better trainer than she actually was. Pre-Hoen Misty was incredibly immature. Instead of getting along with Ash she tried to bite his head off and argue with him for the silliest of reasons.



No, it doesn't. Gym leaders and Frontier Brains are below Elites and Champions and they get beaten by dozens of trainers every year. The only ones who you can possibly classify as a Master are Champions like Cynthia and maybe the Elie Four. The anime and games never explicitly stated the conditions for becoming a Master and I seriously doubt being a Frontier Brain qualifies.

Er, it was stated in-game (Pokemon Emerald) that the Frontier Brains were more powerful than the Gym Leaders and at least on par with the Elite Four. Of course, since when has the show ever cared about it's source material anyway?

But Paul can actually back up his boasts with 30+ badges and three regional tournaments. Misty is just an ordinary gym leader and most of her Pokemon were never shown to be all that strong.
