pointless nude scenes

People have commented on Hale Berry in Swordfish. Another similar one is Rene Russo in the Thomas Crown Affair (Pierce Brosnan version),

In both cases nice to look at but absolutely not needed in plot.
 
scene in the film abyss where the girl nearly drowns and they try to resusciate her. as they're out to shock her heart one guy suddenly yells 'no its got to be applied to bare skin' so they tear open her tshirt to leaving her boobs on full show.

so the importance of being scientifically and medically accurate in this procedure was in no way contradicted by the water aliens and the ability to manipulate water as though it were solid :confused:

still the actress was pretty hot so i wasnt about to turn the video off in disgust.
 
Plenty of sex/nude scenes are not pointless, it's all down to the story, the writing. Take the one in Terminator, for example. OK it's important from an overall plot pov that Sarah and Kyle Reese have sex because Sarah has to end up being pregnant with John Connor, but it's setup so well between them it doesn't feel remotely out of place. They really need each other right then, the tone is right. And this is in an action film!

The best sex scene ever, of course, is in Team America: World Police. Check it out!

Don't have to name a specific film but a full genre does it regularly. Horror films (Friday 13th, Halloween, Hostel etc.) always seem to have a young lady, or group of them, swaning about with their fake tits out just before they are slashed.

What do we want? Nudity and greusome deaths!!!!
When do we want them? At least every 10 minutes!!!
 
Yes, I'd much rather have seen a naked Alison Lohman. ;)

Also, she's basically a monster so she doesn't really need clothes. (And doesn't Beowulf fight Grendel in his birthday suit anyway?)
 
Most pointless nude scene I have seen was on one of David Blaines magic shows.

I'm sure lots of familes watch David Blaine so when there was a show of his on channel 4, I bet lots of familes were shocked to see lots of nude women prancing around just for the sake of some crappy 2 minute trick he was doing.

As a result of this I now think the guy is a complete tool.
 
Yes, but that scene was done with great passion, it was artistic and it was integral to the plot. :eek: This thread is about pointless nude scenes, not puppet nude scenes :rolleyes: :D

What about the bath house scene in The Dream of Garuda? Not porn, not subtle, but a woman using her "body" to wash a man!!!!
 
that takes me back - when I saw the Abyss in the cinema I had a group of schoolkiRAB sitting behind me.

when we got to that scene, one of them excitedly gasped "you can see her boobs!".
 
The Shining, the dream scene were the nude gets outta the bath, completely pointless and gratuitous.

Stan was a right old letch, Eyes Wide Shut is full of skinny lovelies cluttering up the frame.

There must be one film where nudity is vital to the advancement of the narrative.
 
The mother of all pointless nude scenes can be found in the Australian horror movie: "I Know How Many Runs You Scored Last Summer".

It features an extended female shower sequence that has absolutely nothing to do with the story.

And the body-double they use in these scenes: Miss Nude Australia.

You see everything. Absolutely everything.
