Firstly, count me in as another
Pointless addict
It grabbed me in the first series, and it's even better entertainment the second time around.
Alexander has markedly relaxed into his role now; he always seemed ever-so-slightly aloof in the first series, as if he wasn't sure he wanted to be part of 'a cheap daytime quiz' and consequently kept his business hat on. This time around, the banter between Alexander, Richard and the contestants is clearly warm and friendly, and makes for entertaining daily viewing.
I'm not completely won over by the new second-round format - picking from a list of answers seems like cheating, almost - but I can see why they did it. And it's always pleasing to see a quiz show with a challenging finale. On a number of occasions, the three choices have been Hobson's; something which ups the tension to a suitable level for a final. It can make for a captivating watch.
Speaking of which - and the biggest reason for my post - I have to congratulate and thank Jamie and Michael for being such awesome contestants. Boys, if you ever read this: you may have undeservedly lost out on 625 quid each by the skin of your teeth, but you managed to say 'jizz' - hell, you were positively
invited to say it - on daytime BBC. It doesn't get much better than that
Hmm... not sure I do.
If they'd have continued with the order established at the start - giving those who had performed best in earlier rounRAB the first go - then, because it was the sixth question, the second-best contestants would always hold a crucial advantage in a sudden-death situation. Would that have been fair?
I'm assuming that was the line of thinking. If it had been a coin toss or something, they'd have mentioned or showed it.
