Playing converted videos on your S60 -- Read inside

Make your own formula. Take a 5mb file of the same format you will be making and covert it. Then with the result as an idea you can get a rough estimate of what converted files will be in size

Super NEVER works for me, but I think I have worked out a solution for almost all S60 phones if you want to use the Real Player.

You need both an mp4 encoder (Super/xilisoft/imtoo/whatever) and Quicktime Pro.
You will have to do 2 conversions because QT Pro is fussy with video codecs but it gets the settings EXACT for Real Player.

1st convert your video with your mp4 encoder into an mp4 file. The settings you can set to auto, they dont really matter.
As long as Quicktime can open them the video you just made (or already can play it), you are ready.

In Quicktime, export the file.
Set the file name and on the export tab, choose Movie to MPEG-4.
Then click Options.

Use mp4 as the file format.
Use mpeg4 improved as the video format.
Image size should be QCIF
400 kbps (640 max)
Check the box for preserve aspect ratio and letterbox.
15 frames per sec / automatic keyframe. (Feel free to make this higher, but I didn't get it to play smooth)

Be sure to make the audio show up. Defaults should be fine.

This worked on the 6682 I currently have in my possesion. These settings should work for 3250, E50 and 5500. Also should work for devices going backwards to the 6600.

If you have the N70, N72, N90, E60, E61 or E70, use CIF or QVGA instead.

If you have a Symbian 9 based N-Series (N71, N73, N80, N91, N93), try using h264 as your video format.

Wirelessly posted (My toy: NokiaN80-1/3.0 (3.0617.0.5) Series60/3.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

i'm not at my computer right now, i used frame reduction, i think 144, and swi the audio to stereo, with no amplificationo.

I use AVI to 3gp convertor. 30fps 160kbps 320X240 work great on my N73

also AVI to mp4 convertor wil be nice ,imo.

But if you want to use subtitles... SmartMovie is the only available program for now

use this app... w900/k800 320X240 will work fine.. supports all types of encoding to mp4 and subtitles..

all videos play in excellent quality on my e61

Seems like a cool program..although a bit more lengthy..but if it gets the results I want..i'll use it.

Another thing I noticed..all the sample videos/trailers people posted here are cartoons. I don't know if that makes an impact with how the outcome of the video is gonna look, but the reniassance trailer, and the program looked Excellent when it came to motion. I saw no changes once putting it full screen. I think for things that are shot in film probably might need to be 23.98 fps...just like if things are regular ntsc they should be 29.97. am i wrong? anyone have samples of stuff that's shot in film?

I noticed with the couple of things that i've converted it's somewhat stuttery once full screening the movie. I have followed the settings exactly but there is just an unnatural looking stutter. It's not horrid and definitely is watchable but at the same time ruins the fluid movement etc.

Any ideas? We need to keep this thread going because man oh man I have the urge for good quality movie movies and tv shows.

dude the app should be 3 clicks... select the phone, select the file and press convert..

an n80 user i know said he was getting excellent quality
