Yes, I believe so, I think when A photographer, much like his painter and sketch artist counterparts, sees details differently and will focus more closely on the parts of the object which he/she loves the most.
Maybe it's the eyes, or the finger tips, perhaps the shape of a mouth, or if it's in nature, the focus of the particular item may be centered differently.
I think the very best way to see is to look at the artists other works.
But in my opinion, you won't have to, you won't have to pick out details, when an artist truly loves or feels strongly about his/her subject you will look and say, I can't put my finger on it but I really love this picture.
For me, I love my job, I love the feel of the camera in my hands, I love the lives that become memories as soon as they pass through my shutter and I love making each one perfect and being able to deliver them and know that the people I'm giving them too will look upon that photo and love it, not because of me, but because I brought them a cherished memory..
